I don't do the texturizer myself and I've only had 2 in my life one when I was natural a few years ago and one just last month. Anyway I BELIEVE you only apply to the new growth just a like a relaxer. I mean a texturizer is really only a mild relaxer left on for a shorter amount of time. Someone who's been doing it longer might have better advice for you though.
I've never done one before, but I agree it should only be on the new growth. Otherwise you will be re-processing hair that was already done....possibly losing(or even straightening) the curl pattern you already have.
Okay, thanks everyone. lol was really confused for a moment there. I was thinking about buying the Zoto Design Freedom Plus texturizer from http://www.texasbeautysupplies.com/zotdesfreedp.html
because this texturizer is virtually damage free and has a patented keratin building factor to restore up to 90% of the hair's strength. It also sounds very good because it has low thio and no ammonia or anything so I really won't have much hair damage at all like other texturizers/relaxers.
hello sungoddess, do you already have a texturizer and looking to retouch soon? if so was the previous one a lye or no lye? because from what ive read you shouldnt use thio on hair that has been relaxed/texturized with nolye/lye. if you havent texturized before or you used a thio based one before then just ignore this post. /images/graemlins/smile.gif also i dont believe this particular perm is made for texturizing it is for a curly perm. the type when you apply the solution and then set on rollers to get curls.
Hello Jaquai, no I don't have a texturizer yet, but I'm going to purchase one and apply it to my hair next week. All I wanted to know was in a couple of months if I needed to apply it to only new growth or my whole hair but now I know thanks to everyone here. /images/graemlins/wink.gif Yea, the "texturizer" I was thinking about is a thio based curly perm. But I'm sure you could use it to just loosen the curl pattern of your hair and wouldn't need rollers or anything of that sort..
