I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not but here goes. My husband and I went grocery shopping today. I was in the middle of researching for a paper and so I hadn't really focused on my 'fro that morning. I decided to just run with him without doing much.

Well, after we left the store he started with 'you know, I just want to say something'. I got a little nervous but he followed that with "I really appreciate you and I want you to know that' He said that sometimes when we're out and I just let my 'fro go where it wants to, I get looks from our AA women with a kind of disgust or snicker. (I didn't notice). He says that he appreciates that I am not that superficial and that I accept people for whatever style they have. He said that I usually have my head high and I smile no matter what I'm wearing. He also said that I know how to 'dime up' if I want to.

Now I have seen natural hair on this board and mine really ain't that wild or big. I just live in a hick a$$ wanna be big city and our people here can't get past a wrap or braids.

The funny thing is most of the women that I've kind of gotten a bad vibe from are usually wack as heck. :look: In my opinion and I ain't even like that.

I truly appreciate this forum for giving me the courage to be me. I also appreciate my husband for loving me for who I am.

Congrats on having such a supportive man in your life. There have been many women on this very site who have not had much support from their husbands/SO's about going natural.

:lachen:WOW...he's lucky he lived to see another day after that statement!

Yes he did live. He's thin, dark and sometimes his low cut gets a little long. AFter he said that I said 'yeah and sometimes you look like a dirty q-tip' and walked away. I didn't even look back because I know he was looking at me with the bottom lip of his Jay-Z soup coolers sitting on his chin.

nerve to talk about somebody....

( I love his lips though y'all, Bey, you know what I'm talking about:yep:)

I'm glad you shared this. This is great. It is nice to hear a story about a husband liking his wife's natural hair instead of the opposite that we usually get on here. Thanks again for sharing!
