Have anyone been there yet? http://www.healthytextures.com/

It looks better, but it's so restricted that you really can't do anything on there unless you're a member. Did anyone on this board join for website?
Those that have what do you think about it?
Is it worth the price?

***Please don't let this thread get closed again***

Interesting. I'll admit, it looks good, and for people who want the benefits but don't want to do the reading/research/work - ie, people who want the hair of the hair obsessed without actually being hair obsessed themselves - hey, 99 bucks a year might be reasonable.

As curious/nosy as I am, a sista still ain't gonna be able to do it, but then, I never really liked being coddled through a personal learning experience.

When it comes down to it. You can join every hair board out there and pay all the money. Your hair is not going to show progress unless you actually follow a healthy regimine.

I can get a consultation from the best of them but I have to put the time and energy in. No one is going to hold your hand through this process.

Plus, all the info you need is right here. And the creator was a member here giving advice. So what, has that info changed? I doubt it. (I loved my rollersetting DVD tho)

I'm not going to join because I'm on a natural journey and I can get plenty of advice here.

But for those who do decide to join, more power to you and happy hair growing. :look:

AND... I believe this has already been discussed.

Just from the look of the web layout and content I think the 100 dollar fee is excessive.

And I am NOT even being a hater just my humble opinion.

Good luck to her though. I wish her nothing but the best.

My first impression was, "who is that!?" (referring to the woman on the home page. She doesn't look like Macherie.)

I won't be joining the site. I wasn't a member of the original healthytextures either. I like the videos that she'd posted, but I have all that need with LHCF.

I was going to start a thread on this....dissapointed in her is how i feel.

She got most of her hair care knowledge on here for the grand price of 5dollars (she didnt renew her subscription afterwards) from ladies that give tips, videos and pictures for free...

but she has now taken some of our valued members to this exclusive new site where you have to pay 120 dollars a year and buy her videos to learn about hair care:nono:

I know hair care is difficult for some but $10 bucks a month for hair tips that you can get here and online for free is ridiculous.

If you want some hand holding (nothing wrong with that) and a more personalized experience, then why not? I really think it's a good idea for people who don't want to do the legwork on their own. Lord knows there are lots of folks on here who love to ask questions about every little thing. That girl found a niche. As far as selling all the LHCF info at a higher price, again good idea. Shoo, someone prolly compiling all this info now to release into a book. All the info is free and not copy-written. May not be ethical by some standards, but I'm sure she isn't the only one who thought about it.

ITA, I wouldn't join for that price, but I can't knock her hustle.

She knew exactly was she doing IMO. Thats why IMO she made a thread about not coming back to LHCF cuz she knew she was gonna relaunch that site with her new OUTRAGEOUSLY adjusted fees and ddnt want to be "harrassed" :look: or bombarded here with pm's and questions for free.

Again, Just my opinion!

Kinda foul, but hey everyday is a hustle & in this economy ppl are always tryin to find a way to make money.

Word of advice:

Never forget where u came from folks or the people that helped u get there :yep:

Well that depends on how all this pans out. If new site doesn't become a succsess then she would have ruined a perfectly good thing.

Shoot... she probably would have been better off compiling all the info she had learned here in to a book and charged 9.99 for that.

But again I don't know what her goal is so I can't hate. Good luck to her.

Girl, you know folks don't like to read. :lachen: :nono:

I don't think she's trying to take advantage of anyone. She isn't the first entrepreneur to take free info from LHCF and monetize it. Plus, her target audience may not be folk like us who eat, sleep and breathe this stuff. There are newbies out there in desperate need for advice and possibly a mentor.

Spending $9.99 a month for helpful advice is better than wasting it on most of the crap found in beauty supply stores IMO.

This is a capitalist country I say make your money how you can. Nothing wrong with what she's doing, she's not forcing people to pay the fees. It's all about choice, I'm not a member there but if anyone else is then I say do you.

I kinda agree with what you stated above, and the poster after you that said to make your money the best way you can...

If she is not doing anything illegal or immoral then I guess I'm very "neutral" about the whole site because I am not in her target market due to the membership fee.

ETA: I haven't visited the new site and didn't see the thread about her leaving...

What valued members?

Are some people no longer here and over there exclusively?

It's hard out here for a blogger...
I respect the hustle.
A lot of time was spent to make the original healthy textures blog
successful in and of itself and those efforts should be rewarded.
BUT I have a subscription on LHCF... so I'M GOOD on SUBSCRIPTIONS.

I guess the way I see it is this: the members who have joined her community chose to do so themselves. And it is their choice to pay for membership there, just as I choose to be a member here.

yeah it is a tad bit pricey and all the info is on here for waaaay cheaper, i don't believe in charging ten times more when this site is here, like one of the other ladies sad nothing on one site from the next is gonna matter unless you take care of your hair yourself and or with a trust worthy stylist.

I sell my dominican products, i have sold to some people on here, but i'm not gonna hike the prices up either because of it. i have also seen really good FREE rollersetting vids on youtube, and i'm not hating either if people are paying you for it then hey take advantage, but how much advantage?

I have gone to a lot of sites non hair related that have done this block you from viewing it's contents unless you pay a hefty membership fee.

the people giving advice on her site better come through the computer monitor and do my hair for me every week for $99 for a hair site lol!!!!!

No I won't join. I have diapers to buy and bills to pay

BUT if she comes out with another instructional dvd, I'm all on it! Her rollersetting dvd was bomb!

(I signed up for the free newsletter. I'm nosey :look: )
