Sorry Ladies,

But I am just returning from a trip to visit my big bro and SIL in VA (where, Thank GOD, he is doing well on the medication to shrink his brain tumor...and he is growing back his 3b hair:grin:). I went down there with my heat protectant and EVCO JUST FINE, but returning airport security took them and threw them away...:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

So where I need your help is that I need to know the names of some really good heat protectants. I only happened upon my heat protectant by accident, but there is no way I will find it today as Walgreens has stopped carrying it and it is EXTREMELY hard to find. I am not sure what constitutes a heat protectant and I don't want to just go in and pick up anything. Please help!

Sorry that happened to you. :( But glad to hear your Bro is doing better :)

Only one I know and use is Silk Elements.

FHI Hot Sauce... what kind were you using before? Maybe some of the resourceful members here can help you find your preferred brand....

Thanks for your suggestion. If you don't mind could you give me the full name on the bottle. I will be in Walgreens, CVS, RiteAid, BSS today looking for a good one and I don't want to pick up the wrong thing (i.e. but who would pick up an oil based Hair Polisher and confuse it with heat protectant...?)

Darn airport TSA officers....they make me sick. They go hard too.

I just wonder if they really throw all of that stuff away or do they divide it up and take what they want home with them at the end of the day. A friend of mine bought some $95 perfume on her last trip and forgot to put it in her checked bag. TSA confiscated it and all the while my friend was getting lectured about liquids and correct size, the other officer was looking like :lick:.....SCORE!!!

I think they only sell Silk Elements at Sallys, and it will say "heat protectant" on the bottle. I'm not familiar with any from like a reg food/drugstore.

Let me know if this helps?

Yeah...I was wondering b/c the chick screening was like "what was in the bag?"...and he itemized it as some "cooking oil (i guess he meant the EVCO) and some hair product." Should it matter if you are going to discard it anyway? He opened my perfume bottle and smelled it (J'adore) and he was like "mmm" and he said okay this doesn't exceed our limit, but what is the name of this perfume?" If he thought it could have been a dangerous liquid, why inhale it stupid? He was hoping it was over 3.4 oz.

Yep, he probably was hoping it was over 3 oz. I wear J'adore and always get compliments on it. He was probably thinking about how good it would smell on his woman.

So come to realize that the Sally's that was in the shopping mall by me for YEARS while I grew up, is now closed and the closest one is 9.8 miles away in another state (NJ)....:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Setback here I come!....:sad::sad:

I don't have any advice, but I remember when I went to the airport and they threw away this really great lotion and body spray I had- and they were still full!

Doesn't it still hurt? Oh and BTW...they didn't remove the very flammable lighter I accidentally left in my jean pocket!

Nope...It was my carryon (40 min. flight), but neither item was liquid. My EVCO was solid (at the time), but once he read that it said "cooking oil" he took it.

The TSA rule is liquids, or something that could BECOME liquid - that's the reason that lipsticks (not glosses) are also supposed to go in the plastic baggie. There are compounds that become more volatile in a liquid state, so it's a precaution against mammy-made bomb materials being passed through security as solids, then liquified in the clean zone.

Lighters became permissible again about a year ago. Go figure.

I just got back from from flying. they didnt discard my heat protectant. Was urs in the that sealed plastic bag?..was it more than 3oz?

:ohwell:....The pain is still there. He knew I wasn't making a bomb! He KNEW!...and then when I walk into somebody's airport with dry, matted hair and ashy ankles, smelling like a ramgoat, they are gonna want to take me into a back room for hours of interrogation because I look insane!....CHOOSE a side AIRPORT SECURITY!

Ooooh I know the feeling.
My aunt bought me TWO Curls Whipped Cream containers when they were on sale at Ricky's and they both got SEIZED by TSA.
*I* was so upset, never mind her....

Salerm Brushing (stylist just used this on me Tuesday)
Nexxus Heat Protexx
FHI Hot Sauce
Sabino Moisture Block (on-line only)

I had a brand new bottle of Shikai poo & condish seized in ATL so I do know how you feel. I tried to check it, but was too late to check my luggage by the time I got through security and then had to go back to the counter. I even tried to fedex it but the fedex place was too far away from my gate.

this happened to me too. I made it to TX with my daughters baby lotion but on the way back they seized it. It was that good smelling lavander lotion that J&J used to make. THey don't make it anymore. The new and improved one smells funny. They are some lotions that kinda smell like it now like Huggies lotion in the purple bottle but it's not the same.

Thanks! I was on my way to the BSS when you left this post. I grabbed some Fantasia IC Heat Protector Straightening Serum. The only heat protectant they had in there. I hope it works!I am used to the creamy texture of the You His + Hers by Luster

V05 Miracle Mist and Fantasia IC Heat Protecting Serum are two that you could try.

I so feel your pain about the TSA. About 1 1/2 years ago, they took my honey and almond lotion. I was pissed because I knew that as soon as I was out of sight, the inspector probably used it to moisturize his ashy hands.

I feel your pain also, a little over a year ago TSA confiscated my Boundless Tresses. I was heated. Now I make sure everything is in the checked luggage or I just leave it home.
