It's been a very long time since I visited a hair salon. I know a lot of things have changed. I am taking my 12 yo. for a visit today and I'm am curious as to how much do you ladies pay as a tip, assuming that the service is great? This service that she is getting costs $65.

15-20% so for a $65 service, I'd tip $10-13, maybe $15 if I was really happy with the service and in a good mood .

I have been co-washing/no heat for about 2 months now and I can tell my hair loves it. I'm a newbie at this so I need some advice. It does not look dry but it feels so dry what I'm trying to do is find a products that I can use when my hair is wet and then when it drys it's so ladies I need your help.

To the OP, i have not been to a stylist since March and before then it was December, time before that it was April... all three times I went to an Aveda salon so the service was already kind of expensive and I definitely didn't tip...i'm kind of cheap... now when i went to my stylist back in the day, i would give her $5-$10 at the most honey...

Hi!! Welcome to the forum!! I will be glad to offer some help!! what conditioner are you using? are you dcing? are you following up with a leave-in moisturizer? are you sealing? have you clarified?

also, you may want to create a new thread...others may overlook your post assuming that they will only come in to answer the original post and not look through all the other posts... :wink2:

Sometimes I wonder if the stylists already have their tips added into the price b/c every service is so expensive...Me and my daughter are natural heads and now that I'm pregnant I don't have the energy to do both of our heads. So, I'm biting the bullet and taking a chance with a stylist. We are going to try Salon Balisi. I've heard great things about her on here, so hopefully we will be pleased.

I think I will start with tipping $10...which is pretty much all I can afford right now. Thanks ladies for the advice.

I usually give $5-10 depending on how much I like my hair. I also tip the person who washes my hair if it's the person other than the stylist.

Great post OP!

Bliss806, how much do you usually tip the shampoo person? The most I've given to the shampoo person was $5...and I didn't even like her services! :wallbash: (My pushover days are over.)

I'm a 15-20% tipper depending on how much I like the service. And I usually tip the shower person $3 to $5 as well.

When I used to go to the salon regularly, I always tipped my girl $20. And best believe, I NEVER, EVER waited to get my hair done, was always in and out, would get "freebie" treatments all the time, and was considered a priority. The "tip" was worth it IMO.

Same here. I tip my girl $20 each time. I only go to salons when I need a relaxer and after stretching my hair is no joke and she does a wonderful job.

I never wait, she takes her time when I'm in the chair, gentle with my hair, never need an appointment, and I'm mad priority and I like that. I guess money does talk.
