To wash or not 2 wash

I was wondering if I wash my braids twice a week will my natural hair health wise benefit from this. Honestly, I try to wash it every week(the key word being try), but sometimes I get slack. I usually use ORS herbal cleanse to clean my scalp and I wash the braids separately with Soft Sheen Breakthru or Motions Lavish Shampoo. Last night I used the braid shampoo and gave my entire head a serious washing. My scalp feels moisturized and it actually feels as if my scalp is "breathing". I have a dandruff problem and I don't know if this will help it or cause more problems. What do you all think?

I don't wear braids, but as far as shampooing frequently, I found I stopped having scalp problems once I did. Now if I only shampoo once a week, my scalp gets itchy and flakes.
