How much are you paying for professional trims?

I had one Saturday and a trim is $40. My friend pays $30 so I'm like how much would it be for an actual hair cut. So my wash, rinse, conditioner and trim was exactly $140.

I needed a trim from self trimming which I will reserve to my stylist because I had the back uneven by at least a 1/2 inch. I was told to put my hair up in a ponytail and cut the end across by another self trimmer. Well I guess that sucked...LOL!

Have to think about it, but some stylists charge different prices when it comes to a trim or cut. I think the woman I see gives me a break since she really just dusts the ends.

However, I was watching a YT with a celebrity stylist who said he said the price he charged for using his scissors REGARDLESS of trim or cut was the same, no matter what.

Wow..that really is crazy to charge so much for a trim. It not like you are having to cut someone hair into an actual style. Just trimming off ends should not be 30+ dollars. I can understand why women have started doing their own hair at home. These salons are getting ridiculous with their prices. You pay 70 + for a small amount of relaxer applied to you hair and they probably paid less than that for the tub of relaxer. The little handful of conditioner applied to you hair doesn't equate to the amount they pay for the whole bottle. I have actually seen products in my stylist shop that you get straight out the BS store. Infusion for blow dry, Motions for styling and curling, Keracare etc. You are paying for their rental spaces with the prices they charge.

Sure but you are also paying for their expertise too. I'll be the first to admit, I've watched YT videos on how to trim or dust your ends. I'm no expert and it would take me forever to set up things so that I could do it as close to properly as I could. In the end, I'd rather pay to have it done correctly than to do it on my own, mess up and still end up paying someone to correct it. That being said, no one wants to overpay for services. The amount of work I needed to do to get my hair DUSTED at Supercuts for $13 wasn't worth it to ME.

I was shocked when the stylist said he charged one rate for any scissor work. But to be fair, he's well known in the industry and does the hair of powerful and wealthy people who aren't worried about the price.

$13 at Great Clips... But I wouldn't go anywhere else... Those people can cut.. And they never over trim. I go in with clean hair and tell them I want a trim...that's it. No charging for wash and condition. I'm in and out in 20 min depending on how busy they are. I used to think they were only for YT but no... I've been going to them for years now and they've never let me down.

Yeah..I can understand the expertise part. I have hair below bra strap and when I did self relax, I sure I over processed my hair because it takes me longer to get through it. Rinsing it over my sink cause terrible tangles which took forever to comb out and as I stated before on the advise of someone who self trimmed. I pulled my hair in a ponytail and cut straight across only to have long uneven hair....LOL! So I am aware that I am surely paying for the convenience. My stylist gets that relaxer in and out, now the shampoo girl is a whole other story.

This is the case with the salon I go to. I paid $55 when I did a major cut last June and $55 again when I returned for a dusting in October. I really like that she doesn't need to straighten my hair to trim.

H2 Salon charges $75 - $125 for a trim. That includes a wash and blow out, then leaving with wet hair (your preference).
