I would like to know if I am the only one whose hair does not like brushes especially when it is used to blow dry.

So now I have all these different layers in my hair. I let someone look at my hair and they stated that it was from using brush when they dry my hair. This seem to be the "in thing" for stylist now. I never had this problem a while back until I switched stylist. Last stylist didn't use a brush.

Same here. I have a round goody ceramic ionic brush that my boyfriend bought for me and although it gets my hair stretched well, I don't like that my hair gets caught in the bristles. :nono: Maybe there's a trick to it (size of sections, etc) but for the time being I'm leaving it alone.

I think brushes cause too much stress on the hair when heat styling especially on type 4 hair. I would use the tension method. The hair can get just as straight with a fraction of the breakage.

You're not the only one! I no longer use brushes in my hair. I used to 'rake' the top layer of my hair, but I don't do that anymore. I still feel that my hair is too weak...maybe cuz I see some women use a denman in their wet hair, and thought of a brush in my wet hair makes me cringe. I don't know if my hair will ever be strong enough for that.

Anyhoo, I feel like brushing damages the cuticle of the hair and can eventually cause splits, ragged ends, breakage, lack of sheen, etc. So for me, brushes are a no-no.
