Hairsnob

Deep Thinker
I've been taking vitamins for overall health and hair growth (of course) for a few months now. At first I was bloated and always hungry and had some weight gain. Usually at this point I stop taking them but I kept going anyway.

But this week I'm noticing I have NO APPETITE at all!! This is a good thing (kinda). But I still think it's strange that I don't even crave the foods that I usually like and I'm almost repulsed by them. So I did a Google search and came up with this thread from here of a woman mentioning the same thing. I'm craving the same kinds of foods she said... eggs, fruits, veggies, etc. I don't normally eat as healthy as I should and I'm usually a big bread/carb person but I've been kinda repulsed by carbs all week.

I'm taking:
Super B-Complex
One-A-Day multi (I think it's some Walmart brand)
MSM (4000mg)
Vitamin C

Have you ladies experienced this?? And do you think it's a good thing???

Here is the post (below) that came from this link: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forum10/thread35180.html

Blackhair, when I first stated my hair routine I was taking a lot of vitamins that increased my appetite then I almost over dosed on the vitamins I was taking too many so I stopped them all together and started again about 1 month ago with only biotin and b-complex I still had an appetite but on Tuesday I purchased this water-- I experienced something weird yesterday I lost my appetite and today I am eating different things like apples, egg whites, turkey, turnip greens(fresh) I am not craving sweets(like Krispy Kreme dougnuts, cookies) try the biotin with b-complex and evamor water see if it will decrease your appetite. Good luck! let me know what happens

Sometimes the urge to eat is brought on by vitamin deficiency. When you start to get those nutrients through supplements, that deficiency is met and can affect the way you were functioning without them.

I take all of those and yes, I notice a better, more healthy appetite. MSM does make some people lose weight, perhaps from the appetite suppresant qualities. The water is alkaline water and for a minute, I would drink a glass of water with a spoon of baking soda in it for the alkaline. I may start back

I stopped taking ALL my vitamins and supplements a while back because it was the only thing I could link back to my horrible skin breakouts, I need to start back on mine slowly.

True. Good point.

They sell the water around the corner from my job. . .Anyone want me to test it out. . .my pjism has been dormant and I need to buy something useful. lol

That makes perfect sense!! Sounds like what the other poster was eluding to also. I'm so glad I'm on my way to healthier habits that happened to come about just for wanting longer hair :-)

Thanks!

I read before about women saying MSM made them lose weight and I remember thinking not for me (in the beginning) because I was retaining at that point. But maybe that's true.

And I had the horrible breakouts too but since I stopped the Biotin they haven't been nearly as bad (I get 1-2 small hormonal ones each month now) so I can handle that.

Thanks!!

Sure, go ahead and test it for us. At least it's a healthy thing that shouldn't count against your PJism LOL.

I never heard of that water but I'm assuming it's something equivalent to a vitamin water thing.

There are many health benefits to taking vits and I've experienced them personally but I haven't experienced any weight gain or appetite loss because of vitamins.

i've taken chlorella and msm for 3 months.
I've lost pounds and i'm not happy with this because i was trying to gain :(
now i've stopped for one month and i've re-gained half of the lost weight.
but as I stopped taking them (for gain weight) I also feel tired and i get some break out(msm used to clear my skin)
So I will retake them because it has a lot of benefits (health, hair and skin) and will try to eat more and more and more for not lose weight or appetite.

I'm gonna add Biotin, because I used to take some, but i don't like pills(the msm and spirulina/chlorella were by powder form, I mix'em in my morning smoothie)
without that I had no problem with biotin because I drink a lot of water and don't have breakouts.

Krystle~Hime - Sorry about the weight loss (You don't hear that apology too often) LOL. I guess you could try some protein shakes if you don't want to lose weight. Not sure if your morning smoothies are protein but I know there's usually a bunch of calories in those.

I really wish I could take the Biotin but no matter what I did the breakouts just wouldn't stop. I drink tons of water anyway and even with the other vitamins I still broke out with 1000mcgs. So now the only Biotin I take is in my multi I believe that's only about 500mcgs. I honestly believe the few breakouts I get are from that small amount too.

But if you have to take pills then Biotin isn't bad because the ones I had were small. I take the powder MSM also and it's much better since I started mixing it in my orange juice.

Good luck!

haha yeah you're right this is not some usual apologies :p
you told me about protein shakes but I was already taking protein shakes(spirulina and chlorella contains loooots of protein) but maybe, surely, you're talking about the wheat/milk powder kind protein.

about breakouts, try rosehip and/or witch hazel. or simply be consisten by taking your biotin with MSM because seriously, this summer my skin was so sexy LOL and I know for sure it's due to MSM ;)
and I was taking 5000 mcg so.. i know people reacts differently to treatments, but give a try to my rosehip/witch hazel daily moisturizer (mix with rosewater)

I'm taking MSM and I have noticed that I no longer have the urge to snack and am not at all hungry when I wake up in the morning (which is not cool :nono:) so I force myself to eat breakfast (usually a protein shake or yogurt). In my case the loss of appetite is good (just not in the a.m. :nono:) because I needed to change my eating habits big time. :yep:

I know the feeling, I like the loss of appetite thing but the morning is when I usually get that energy to get going for the day. I don't understand how I have to force myself to eat. I usually eat yogurt and an oatmeal bar in the morning and I can't stand either of them anymore. This morning I didn't have anything for breakfast at home so I went to Mickey D's thinking I'd get an egg/sausage bagel and ended up getting a fruit smoothie. There's that craving for fruit again. I like this change but I might consider a protein shake instead.

Yeah, I was thinking of the wheat/soy ones that seem to be packed with calories. If you want to gain weight just write down my every day diet before the last couple of weeks LOL. Eat an extra slice of bread with each meal and I'm sure that would keep you from losing.

As far as breakouts, thanks for the info but what is rosehip? Is that an herb? I use witch hazel at night already and in the morning I use my BP wash. I can co-sign on the MSM making your skin sexy because my skin looks great now and it's becoming more even toned. But I get the one cystic hormonal one near the chin each month and it's not nearly as bad as it was before. Then I get maybe one or two small whiteheads that I can deal with since they disappear fast. So that's cool. But with the Biotin I would get bumps that would appear almost every day and by the time they went down more were on the way. So that's what I can't deal with.

well ladies, i tried to get the water to test it out, but the stores that were listed on the evamor website as retailers, did not have any. bummer.

I did notice that that Fiji Water has a ph of 7.8 and has similar ingredients to the evamor.

Then my mind went to the "alkaline diet" and it dawned on me that alkaline dieting overall causes better efficiency and metabolism of foods and thus can cause weight loss.

anyone know the pH of MSM?

Here is some information on how the alkaline diet works. Alkaline Diet - All About Alkaline Foods, pH Balance & Healthy Life

When you take MSM your pH goes normal. Candida can not live in your body when your pH is normal-except in the colon where it belongs, so the Candida dies out. This is how MSM cures people of Candida. Just that simple.

Candida can turn any bread in your diet into blood alcohol.

Some people can actually eat 4 or 5 pieces of bread and get drunk. The bars have lots of pretzels and breadsticks because it satisfies Candida’s craving for bread and keeps the blood sugar content high.

If enough MSM is taken, the pH becomes normal and Candida can't live anywhere accept in the colon where it belongs. MSM makes it possible for an alcoholic to come down off the alcohol without any of the withdrawal side effects.

The vitamin C in your cocktail helps the MSM to absorb and be useful for your body.

HeChangedMyName - When I first started reading this I was like, what the heck? Blood alcohol?? I glanced at the website just now and I'm going to have to really read into this. So far it was kind of confusing yet interesting at the same time. Thank you so much for posting this!! I'm going back into the website to check it out now.
