I want to thank you ladies for the inspiration and courage to stand up for myself. I went to a hairstylist (highly recommended), my hair is damaged and has been falling out, I'm tried Emergencee, Aphogee( not together and once a month, always followed by a moisturizing condish) so I decided I wanted to start fresh. He cut all the damaged hair so I'm back at SL. The thing is when he tried to style it, with a reconstructor treament thrown in, and NO conditioner, he dried it with a handheld dryer and then proceeded to flat iron it. he dumped his hand on some Redken wax and Redken styling pomade, well, to make the story short my hair was stiff, greasy, disgustingly stuck together, the kind of hair that if you lower your neck, the bottom of your hair sticks out into the air, and it crackled every time he combed it. So I didn't let him finish, I told him I'd wash my hair at home, he started protesting that it looked nice and that it was moving:wallbash:ad it would look better once he'd finish. I told him I would pay(yes, stupid me!) he gave me a discount and I left with my friend. I started crying but my friend offered to do my hair fo rme, so we did a deep conditioning and with the help of Silk Infusion my hair looks really nice today.
Thanks for letting me vent...I think I have been doing too much to my hair, so I'll try the KI.S.S. method and go easy for a while, protect my ends, do deep conditioning and rollersets and not flat iron it for a while
So, thanks to all of you!

Good for you! It seems as if you are back on track. It happens to the best of us. Sometimes you gotta just cut a little and cut your losses. I am glad you didn't sit there and let him make you look like a wet chicken. Your not the only one going back to some simple methods, I think alot of us have gone back to the basics. Makes life and
hair growing alot easier don't it :)

Well good for you for standing up and leaving. I hope that you have identified the problems that contributed to your hair breakage and your hair will be thanking you in no time at all!! HHG!!

I love it when people take charge of their hair and stop letting these stylist ruin our progress

Good for you!! And i'm sorry that you had that experience. hopefully the cut he gave you made up for everything else.

I glad you had the courage. I have been placed in horrid salon situations and did not have the courage to speak out. I have not been to a salon since Feb. I desire to have myself pampered but afraid of receiving lousy service resulting in disappointment.

Thanks Ladies! believe me, I kept thinking about some of the stories I've read in here, about getting up and leaving or speaking up, so even though he was very nice, I knew if I let him continue the damage would be even worse than the one I had. I've been looking at my regimen, and I'll keep everything simple, besides winter is coming here in Canada, so I'll buy some silk or satin to line my knit hats, and in the meantime I'll condition, and put it away.

Thanks for your support ladies, it has meant a lot to me, it may seem silly because it's just hair, but some things at work, my grandma passed away this week, she's in Cuba, so I couldn't go, and this to top it off, I guess I just snapped. Fortunately, my husband has been very supportive, he said to take this as a new beginning and a learning experience.

Hugs to all of you

kudos to you for standing up for yourself and your locks. for some reason its hard for a lot of people, including myself, to stand up to stylist even when they insist on making you look like boo boo the fool. i wanna be like you when i grow up!

Aww!! (giving you a big hug) So sorry this happened and I am giving you a standing ovation for handling the situation with class!! Hang in there, the emergencee, and aphogee are still great products so keep them in rotation...(hint use the emergencee like the aphogee, let i dry on you hair prior to washing it out) Keep us posted ok???

Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

It's wonderful that you stood up for yourself. I don't know if I'd be strong enough to do that... good for you! :yay: Your hair will be growing longer every single day... that thought comforts me when I'm feeling down about my hair.

Good for you! I think we've all been there where we saw the stylist going in a direction that we didn't want. I'm proud of you!

Awww that was sweet of your friend to do your hair,
I am soo glad you walked out on him, I almost got into an argument with a stylist.

That is one of my biggest pet peeves EVER...my coworkers hair used to be like that...you could see it sticking up from miles away:lachen:.
