Sooooo after reaching close enough to waist length as relaxed I decided to chop off all my relaxed hair and go natural. However something interesting happened when I saw my hair I paused. Am I really a 4ab as I so proudly claimed in 2004? I grew my hair following 4ab principles. What do you think? I think starting this new journey got me all jacked up. I did the big chop 2 weeks ago after an 8 months stretch.

Your hair looks like my natural hair looked.

I'd say you are right claiming 4A and b
The back/nape of my hair was looser than the majority of my hair.

You'll know 100% when it gains more length.

Congrats on your new journey!

Looks 4a/b to me. What were you thinking it might be?

I thought I saw a few 4c in my hair. So i was thinking 4 abc. Yesterday was the 1st time I actually saw and washed my hair. Right after the BC I told the hair dresser to braid it back.

Also thank u ladies. Cheers to a new journey.

It looks like 4a/b....my hair looks similar to yours, but I have majority 4a in the back with 4b at the crown, making a natural mullet. Congrats on your BC!

I was going to say 3c until I saw the last 2 pictures. Yeah, I think you're 4a/b :yep: Congrats on your new journey. Get ready for your arms to hurt... I'm natural myself before people start throwing bricks at me :bricks:

I dont get it. Sorry if this sounds rude; dont mean to offend. But why spend all that time and energy to grow your hair to wl then only transition for 8months (???) and then chop it all off.

For a moment I thought parts of your hair was blue.lol

Congrats on the bc. You'll reach wl again in no time too. Summer is the perfect time to BC too.

In life nothing should stay the same. Change is always around the corner. I never thought it was possible for black people to have long hair as a relaxer. Thanks to lhcf I was able to achieve my goal and go beyond what I thought was possible.I use to stretch for 4-6 months before perming. I was able to see my natural curls and I fell in love with them. My mother gave me a perm at the age of 5/6 years old. I want to know me and stop hiding behind what is not natural. This was how God made me and I want to grow what was given to me and see where it takes me.

Congrats on your big chop!!

You've probably already received enough confirmation, but I agree with 4a/b, as far as curl pattern goes. You might also consider that some sections of your hair may be silky and others cottony (making you think they're 4c).

3c, 4a, 4b, etc. only describe the size of the curls and the pattern. Not the texture, per se. A cottony 4a and silky 4a will look a bit different.
