I know that washing hair before a relaxer is a big no-no. I was wondering if spraying it with my Premier Hydrating Spray (rather watery) 2 days before relaxig would be a problem. The spray + my moisturizer + castor oil are the only 3 things that will allow my hair to lay down in a bun with ALL this NG...what do you guys think??

Definitely not! Your hair, especially the NG, isn't supposed to be wet while applying a relaxer.

I know I'm not supposed to wash or drench my hair with water or watery products the day of or day b4 relaxer, but spritzing with water-based sprays 3 or 4 days before. Meaning your hair would Definitely be dry come perm day. I would love to know if this is a problem...my hair will def be dry in like 2 hrs from any spritzing session btw

I have a product call Preservo Serum from Avalon Products that's supposed to be used with my Affirm Fibergaurd Relaxer. The product is designed to be used on new growth specifically (and all over the rest of the hair) right before a relaxer to help your hair retain more strength during the relaxing process. The consistency of the product is like a creamy(watery) leave-in so it may work to help lay your hair down.

Really? Does your relaxer burn at all or process to quickly? I can't wash my before a relaxer (the most I've done is three days before) and my scalp was on FIRE!!!!

I wouldn't. Anything that causes the pores to be open (wet hair) will be a problem. Once I tried shampooing the day before..my scalp was so sore (there was no burning just soreness). Another time I relaxed after an aerobic class earlier in the day (where I had been sweating) and had the same problem along with burning. I swore after that I would follow the directions.

FOR ME, that's the only way I don't burn. I don't leave the relaxer on long because I'm texlaxed, 5-7 mins is long enough to get the desired look i'm going for.

I wash the day of or the day before I relax.
So did my stylist. She uses Phyto 1 on my hair. It did not burn at all. She primarily washed (without shampoo/conditioner only) it because I had too much oil in my hair. She did not massage the scalp either. She said that she would not have been able to do that if I did not use Phyto.
OP: I think a couple of days before is fine. Just don't scratch or massage the scalp.
Great to hear! I use Phyto II so I think I'll be fine. No scratching or massaging, and I think I'm done spraying for the next 2 days too. Thanx for advice

I probably would have thought that too! THanx for info. Glad you brought this up. Suddenly I recall the day I permed after going to gym in the morning. I had totally forgotten about that! It was a bad move...lol. But I'm done wetting for 2 days (perm day in 2 days) so I think i'm ok

Hmmm this sounds very good! I use Phyto though, don't know if you can use this with a different relaxer system. But i'm intrigued

i clarify a day before relaxer with no issues. I do not manipulate my scalp in any way. Just cleanse the hair. Follow with a light conditioner and air dry. The next day I relax. No burning.
The reason I do this is because I use MT. If i try to relax without clarifying. I will have instant reversion.

i agree. i had a bad 'on-fire' experience also - and it was 2 or 3 days before a relaxer (when i used to get them). Everyone is diff, but for me it is too risky.
