What Can I do About Thin Ends?!?!?

I'm so upset because I just noticed how thin my ends are. My hair doesn't have that nice full look like many of the people here at LHCF! Its even more frustrating because I've been doing EVERYTHING RIGHT in order to get my hair to grow and grow healthy. I've been avoiding heat, I've been keeping it conditioned. What can else can I do?

- Does the rest of the hair have to "catch up" to the ends. It seems like a few straggly ends have grown long and the rest of the hair hasn't caught up. What is going on? Is there anything I can do to get the same fullness that I have at the top and middle of my hair at the ends?

You say you are keeping it conditioned. What are you using to moisturize your ends daily?

Cut them. That's what I had to do. I was trying to hang on to them and wait for the rest of my hair to 'catch up', but I HATE see-through hair, so I just cut them and my hair looks really full.

Thats the only way. My ends used to look terrible-they were jagged and horribly uneven. Cut them and then start wearing a baggie.

Lately, I've been putting Jojoba Oil on my ends daily. Because my training schedule has been crazy lately, I was rinsing every few days and leaving conditioner (Elucence MBC) in all day. But I'm fanatical about keeping some type of conditioner on the ends. You fullness looks great! So many people here have great fullness and I thought I did. My hair was recently flat-ironed at a non-Black salon...when my normal guy does it (press & flat-iron) it doesn't look so thin. But, he obviously just disguises it better. This is the second time I've stared at the back of my hair and really noticed this.

What would you recommend I use to keep my ends conditioned?

I waz about to say the same thing. Trimming is painful, but when you have damage, there is no other way to repair ends.

One ?: Is your hair naturally thin/fine? I have fine strands, but lots of them, so although my hair never looks as thick as some others here, it is still healthy. My ends, though are thin due to overprocessing so I am gradually getting rid of them. There is a distinct demarcation between the thin part and the thicker part.

Okay...I see your point. My ends aren't damaged, jagged, uneven or "horrible." Its just that at the very, very bottom its not as full as it is at arm-pit length. As soon as I catch up to year 2001 and get a digital camera, I'll take a picture so you can see what I'm talking about. Hopefully that'll happen soon. ;)

Even if you take good care of your ends, your hair grows at different rates on different parts of your head. So some parts will shoot down while others still have to catch up. Go head and cut it girl. You'll feel better with nice full ends.

Since the ends of your hair is the oldest hair it may just be time to start cutting gradually until you get to the thickess part of your hair, or you could just cut the thin ends off in one whop.
