What CURLING product really sets your hair of right?

I've been on this transition for 10 months now. I am thinking about bc-ing on the second week in April in memory of my grandfather. When I bc I really want to rocky my natural curls.

I see that there are all types of curling products out there. What I want to know is which product are you rocking?
Please give all the dirt.
How is the curl definition?
How is the hold?
How long does the set last?
Is it sticky, greasy or drying?
Cost?
How long does a bottle/jar last you?
How easy is the application?
Any other thoughts.....

I love love loveeee Natural curls coiling jelly, from darcy's botanicals.

It comes in smaller, more affordable amounts than KCCC, it's not sticky (actually it's kind of runny.) As a type four when i opened it at first i had a really hard time imagining that it could possibly provide any sort of hold or definition, but it does. The best way I can describe how it feels is *light*. Also it smells like peaches, and already its a win for me.

I haven't noticed it to be particularly drying (though you might wanna go the glycerin free route), its not sticky at ALL, at any time, and it dries faster than KCCC (since its thinner.) Even though its thin and it doesnt seem like much, a little goes a long way. I only bought it a few weeks ago so I'm not sure how long it will last precisely, but I do believe it will be quite a while.

Its also very easy to apply, because its so thin. It comes in a jar but i thin it would be great if it came in a pump bottle, to give you an idea of the consistency. As for how long it lasts, I'm not super sure (i haven't tested it.) I think you could keep decent (gradually fuzzying) results for several days though.

I prefer it to KCCC and Eco Styler. (too sticky, take too long to dry)

Are you talking in term of gels? What is your curl pattern like bc no product will give you "curls" where there are none. If your hair doesn't have "curls" you could always do twist outs or braid outs or bantu knot outs to get the look you want

Castor Oil

It is thick, sticky and runs $4-$8 per bottle
Last a long time
Leaves hair soft & shiny.

Now as far as gels - I go with Eco Styler over my conditioner. Elasta QP Glaze is nice for finishing touches, and their Feels Like Silk Gel has a light jelly like consistancy. Non sticky feel. And it has a light pleasant scent.

Moisture & Protein are what really makes your pattern pop, so you have to focus on your DC's and continual care as much if not more than what daily styling products you use. Also, your technique is important. I would advise checking out some YouTube vids so you can watch how ladies handle their hair as they're styling.

I have a mixture of curl patterns. The back and left side of my head are about the size of a pencil but there are some that are a bit smaller and much more frizzy on the right side of my head.

I hope to find a product that will enhance what I have with out being sticky, hard or drying.

I would like to test some things out before i do my bc and find out that my hair HATEs being curly lol.

Luckily for me (although I didn't think I was lucky at first) the back of my hair detests relaxer and broke off something awful with my last relaxer. That makes that section COMPLETELY relaxer free so I guess I can test products and techniques out back there to get an idea of what works before I bc.
