what does normal daily hairloss look like?

I know that you lose 50-100 (I think) strands a day. My question is, should the strands always come out from the root where you can see the white bulb on the end? The strands that I lose are a combination of from the root and broken from just the ends. Is that normal? I know that your ends are the oldest and weakest part of your hair so it's to be expected but, I do not want to ignore breakage. How do you know the difference?

My hair seems healthy and I'm seeing growth progress

. Also, I don't lose a lot of hair each day. I've been doing protein treatments with Aphogee and Kpak and I have seen an improvement. I'm still however, not sure what's considered normal. Any thoughts?

Any particular reason for combining aphogee and kpac protein conditioners (I mean using them side by side)?

Hi myhairsos. No- just me being obsessed with my hair and at the same time being a horrible product junkie....I've even used Nexus Emergencee.....I wanted to see which worked best. My hair doesn't seem to be dried out from too much protein.... I don't plan on using these again for a while so that I don't over do it.

Keylargo,
I understand, I'm doing the same (purchasing product after product trying to combat my traction alopecia)

Hi Keylargo...it's hard to say in words and I'm sure everyone might be different depending on the stage there hair is in, how close they are to needing a touch-up or even texture but maybe looking at Adrienne's shedding pics might give you an idea. She explains what each picture is and maybe if you keep track of your shedding for a couple months you can post pics or something. My shedding kind of depends on how close I am to touch-up time and how many days I've gone without combing.

Forgot to add that hair with the white bulbs have been shed from the scalp..hair without bulbs have come off of the ends of hairstrands that are still attached. This could be a result of numerous things including dry hair, your styling method, or a weekpoint along that particular hair shaft. This is called Trichorexxis Nodosa (sp?) and is an explosion of the cortex. Check out this page and you will see a picture of what it looks like. The hair will break off at this point.

Thanks ladies. I don't think my hair is coming out enough to say it's "shedding". I only see a few strands here and there. I just was not sure if the strands from the normal hair we lose was supposed to be from the root. I am going on my 4th week of post relaxer and I have a good amount of new growth. I guess that's part of the problem. Other then that I probably do have a little breakage going on. I'm hoping the vaseline will help with that since it's not too bad.
