Today I had my old stylist flat iron my hair and she had it on 450. She says that now that I am transitioning my hair is so thick that this seems to be the best temperature for my hair.

Now, she told me if I do it myself then I should experiment with the temperature. She says start low and work you way up until you are happy with how straight you hair gets.

So my question is for those who flat iron, what temperature do you use?

I have a HAI and i put mine at about 320 degrees. I think her advice about starting low and going a little higher is good. I dont go past 340 degrees normally unless i have wicked new growth. The last stylist i went to had it up way to high (450+) and my hair had that burnt smell. Also, it was so straight that it snapped at the slightest tug. I was not happy.

I use my FHI on 370. I get silky straight hair in 1-2 passes.

Same here, but on my right side that is too hot, I use 320 or so.

It depends on the flatiron as well. Because my Maxi glide, the temp setting go by numbers... i use mine on Setting 4.

370 on my Solia usually gets the job done. I go up to 400 if I do larger sections or if I have a lot of NG.

I have it on 160C...about 280

I also have a HAI and I never use it above 270. I usually get the results I want in 1-2 passes.
