Is there an official braid challenge? I've forgotten if the old challenge was still in effect. I am in braids and plan on braiding on and off for the next few months. I know some of my sistahs out there have em in now. Let's take an official count.

I have cornrows, but they coming out next week. I'm thinking of getting twists next. I'll be rockin braids til the spring/summer.

I just took my cornrows out this past Sat. I got mega growth considering I usually grow very slow during the winter. I think Surge was the key.

I just put some in last week. I plan on braiding twice and leaving them in until April. My plan was to keep me from obsessing over why I don't see any growth. Hope it works.

Me too! I put mine in on the 8th.

I had braids until this weekend! I took them down Friday and Saturday and plan to leave them out for a while. I want to let my hair breathe a bit since I've been in braids since June 2003, then braid it back up in February or March. Wolftrap, believe me - you'll be surprised at the new growth that you'll retain in braids. Braids are the single reason that my hair looks as healthy as it does today. Once you're gentle in taking them down and are careful to completely comb out the hair before washing, you'll be good to go. Good luck to you braid challengers! If it's still on in February or March, I'll join you all then.

I posted but for some reason it didn't take LOL
i will be alternating b/t cornrows and weaves beginning in january up until september. i have a 8 month braid challenge going on so if i can find it, i will bump it.

I'm hoping to retain length and April will also mark my one year hair anniversary I took a picuture in April of this year and will definitely be posting a picture on here next April when I take the braids out. (well only if I see a difference:D )

I'm wearing twists. They are flat twists and twisted up on my head kind of like cornrows with a bun in the back. I'm going on my 3rd week now and I plan to wear them for 3 months while having them redone every 2 weeks. I'll wear them 3 months on and 2 to 4 weeks off.

i am i had cornrows done on dec 11 and also had a black rinse done ill prob keep them in for tha rest of tha month and a little bit of jan and throughout the year.

I am rocking braids right now...And I did it myself. It is so nice sometimes to not have to think about your hair too much.

I've got mine and they are 5 weeks old, I will take them down @ week 6 wash, condition and put them right back in & will have them in until may.
I'm hopeing to get 5 in. by then.

I have braids in since Dec. 4. I did them myself. I'm going to take them outand redo them, hopefully that set will last for 6 weeks. After I take that set out, I plan to get a touch up and a few weeks after that put braids in again.

Moi!!!! I had my senegalese twists done last Saturday. I plan to keep up the braiding process for the whole year.

i'm still on the challenge, i just came out of braids yesterday and am on a 2 week hiatus.. then i'll be getting kinky twists.

i just took my cornrows out on saturday, and they really helped with the shedding issues i was having i got alot of growth too so i'm moving my touch up to sometime this week instead of waiting until january. the only bad thing is i notice my edges thinning on one side.

Ohh Kathy May, I'd love to see your sengalese twist. I wanted these but I got kinky 2 strand twist instead.

My plan is to alternate between braids, flat twists, cornrolls & weaves for next year starting in January. The weave I get every summer. I guess the flat-twists, braids & cornrolls are all immediately feasable at this time since my sister can do them all. My issue is I don't know which to start with first. I'm kind of thinking braids since they are versatile & I'm going to start interviewing in January. Another interesting thing is I haven't had braids or cornrolls since the age of 16, so this will be interesting.
