I'm searching for moisturisers to add to my Profectiv Breakfree and Root health collection. I hate the ones with mineral oil or petrolatum. Anyway which ones do you use and why?

Me!

I use Keracare's lotion, Ultra Black hair moisturiser and GENERIC Nexxus Humectress. All of them leave my curls bouncy if I do a wash and go and my ends don't seem as dry.

I used Keracare before and i quite liked it but was worried about the mineral oil content, I may purchase this again if i pluck up the courage. I tried the Nexxus Humectress and it made my hair clump together, it got sticky and made my ends dry

Carol's Daughter hair milk is really the only lotion type product that I've ever liked. The others that I've tried are water-based and only dry out my hair (i.e. ORS Carrot Oil, ORS Olive Oil Lotion, Pink Oil etc.)

The same thing happened to me with regualr Humectress Den. When I used the Generic version Lorraine mentioned, I got nothing but soft, moisturized hair.

I can't think of anything that I like better than Profectiv Breakfree.

I use a mix of lotion type moisturizers, Surge Wojee mixed with Salerm, EQP Mango Butter and ORS Carrot Oil.

Kids Organincs Shea butter moisturizer is great. Their pomade is great for holding dons the edges during the winter too. Okay ...I just like everything from Kids Organics... lol I always try to keep the moisturizer on hand.

I use a variety of cream moisterizers:
Nexxus Humectress
Lacio Lacio
Salerm 21
Sedal's Verano intensivo

I know you said you hate moisturizers with mineral oil but you did ask which ones we use so here's mine:

In the morning I spray my hair with Pantene leave in at first and then I apply some Pantene Oil Moisturizer. After using this my hair is very easy to comb and stays moisturized all day.

Both the products smell good and are affordable.

Also the oil moisturizer don't weigh my hair as much as other oil moisturizers.

I'm currently LOVING Elasta QP Recovery. I also like and use ORS Olive Oil Lotion, ORS Carrot oil creme and Sruge Woojee Cream (does contain mineral oil so a little dab will do ya).

Ditto!

I'm gonna use that Elasta Recovery again, i can't remember why i never repurchased this product. I would like to know whether its best applied to wet or dry hair?

I use elasta on wet hair and for an extra moisture boost Ill mix a good amount with an equal amount of my africas best herbal oil and put it on dry hair at night....then put it in a bun or braid...it is very soft and moist in the morning when I do that. this is the only moisturizer Ive found to really work for me long term.

i mostly use the Recovery on wet hair, but also discovered that i can use it as a daily moisturizer on my hair when i wear it down without it becoming weighed down or stiff. i just love that stuff!!

hairlove, the ingredients are:

botanical extracts of birch, horsetail, horse chestnut, sage, nettle, lemon balm and coltsfoot leaf in purified water, mineral oil, cetimonium chloride, cetaryl alcohol, ceteareth-20, dimethicone, capric caprylic triglycerides (coconut oil), glyceryl stearate, PEG-100 stearate, stearate-10, guar hydroxypropytrimonium chloride, methylparaben, propylparaben, imidazolidinyl urea, fragrance.

Thanks for the testimonies ladies. I went out a bought mine yesterday, i'm about to use it on my wet hair, i'll report back after its airdryed.

I am re-discovering Giovanni Direct Leave In. It's great on my ends w/ a little Hot Six or Monoi Oil to seal. I also love Salerm 21 and the Kids Organics one that ballet bun raved about, but I only use this on wet hair to detangle.

Adrienne - Thanks for posting. I guess it doesn't matter for me b/c I can never find elasta qp products in my area.

The water-based products are somewhat detrimental to my hair as well: dryness!

I usually use Ultra Sheen on the ends, and Motions Mango Butter on the length of the hair.

BTW: My mother, who is a natural who presses her hair, really likes the Motions Mango Butter!
