What are you wrapping it in? Are you wrapping it the same way every night or changing the directions? I don't wrap very often any more. I think my hair got tired of it. Plus, I found little hair stubbles around my hairline when I wrapped all the time. I just twist and sleep on my satin case now.
are you natural or relaxed?
Ihaven't had a relaxer in 8 months. I say half natural and half relaxed..
• what shampoo and conditioner do you use?
nexxus botanical shampoo and sarlem 21 cond
• how often do you wash and condition?
it depends once or twice every two weeks.
• how often do you use heat?
whenever I wash my hair( hot comb)
• do you ever wear protective styles?
I normayy wear braids, but I haven't had braids in since the end of Feb
the more information we have, the better we can help you.
everytime I was my hair, its so hard to comb the front and middle that I blow dry and hot comb it.
the back is soft and loose, but my front and hair is so tight and wavey. its like waveys clumped together. I can't just brush it up into a ponytail.
It takes forever to come then out and then after I blow dry my hair is so dry
My hair is a little pass my collar bone, but ugh..
I might just cut it again.......
divine, i also should have asked what you use in terms of moisture besides oil. i find that oils just kinda sit on my hair, particularly if i use them on it while it's dry. so i use them moreso to seal in moisture and on wet hair. i use curl activator for moisture. have you ever tried it? it really softens the hair in addition to moisturizing.
also, i think you should find styles that don't require any heat. for me, this was THE hardest thing to do because when i first started, my hair was too short for a ponytail. i wore braids until it was long enough.
flyjump, thanks for the compliment! your hair is also beautiful, and so are YOU!!
Maybe it's the blowdrying that's causing your hair to break. Since it's been eight months since your last relaxer, you must always make sure your hair is properly moisturized, especially the demarcation line (the line where the new growth and the relaxed hair meet; the weakest point in your hair strands).
I would eliminate combing your hair so often and concentrate on frequent conditioner washes. Also, I would stray away from braids for sometime, so you can concentrate more on your actual strands, and to avoid any further breakage.
Also, try not to wrap your hair so often. Since it's been 8 months since your last relaxer, I'm assuming your hair is pretty thick, and getting it to wrap must be difficult. Try putting it in a loose ponytail with lot of moisture! Hope this helps!
I don't use any other type of oil.
im scared to use a curl activator.
I used one a year ago and it broke my hair off bad. I had to cut it all off and start of again.
the style thing is a problem. I don't know how to do my hair. My hair is long enough to put into a pontytail, bu its looks weird. its hard to put it into a ponytail
I don't like wearing my hair out b/c im at the gym working out a hour 5 times a week.
my hair is try after I wash it and I have to textures. one loose wavey/ curves and the clump tight waves and that why I press it.
divine, based on your last post, i definitely think you should try to curl activator. it softens the hair so much... but it would mean not using heat because it's not for dry styles.
since you have alot of difficulty combing your hair after washing, you could try a couple of different things:
• wash your hair in the shower going back. when you're cleaning it, just massage around the scalp, but don't manipulate the hair so that it won't tangle. comb while conditioner is in it.
• try washing it in sections. that's what some people do. you could part it into four sections and put them up. take each one down and wash. comb while conditioner is in, braid and rinse. repeat until the whole head is done. it would take longer, but it's less stress on the hair in the long run.
tell me more about the problem with the curl activator. which one did you use? how were you wearing your hair at the time? how often did you wash it, etc?
If your hair is half relaxed half natural then are you going to to keep relaxing it or go natural? Maybe its time for a touch-up since you said it has been 8 months since your last relaxer..
I don't know what its called.
its in a gold bottle with red writing.
my grandma uses it...
I tried it and my hair got really dry and broke off.
she cut it all off and that was my senior year of school.
I refuse to relaxe my hair.
I tried it once and didn't like the way my hair felt.
im just waiting to my hair gets back to the middle of my back before I cut it.
I think your hair is breaking cause you still have relaxed hair left, thats what was happening to me. 'gold bottle with red writing'
Could that be Care Free Curl Gold your talking about?
I'm confused. Have you tried any protein treatments to help? Aphogee works well and so does Elasta QP for breakage. Maybe there is some other solution than just cutting if off.
I can't think of the name, but that sound like it...
it might be...
let me take my pic....
maye I use to much oil and grease....
I grease and oil twice a day
Hmmm, I don't have much knowledge on Sulfur 8 so I can't really comment on it. Perhaps you should refrain from heat for now, until this matter is resolved to prevent further abuse.
