Wigs in the workplace?

I'm going to have a new job soon, and I want to stick to my wig reggie. I've made allot of progress washing and conditioning everyday and I'm not ready to wear my hair out yet.

How many of you ladies wear wigs to work? Do many people notice? How often is it the topic of conversation, when you hadn't mentioned hair? Do you think it is professional?

I wear a wig everyday and they only know its a wig, not a weave b/c I switch them up often.

Before when I wore more realistic ones, wigs that were the same length and color as my hair, they had no idea. I'm simple when it comes to hair though, no wild colors or anything like that and I wear half wigs. I've perfected the blending technique. Right now even though I'm wearing a half wig I don't blend my hair, I just wear a really wide head band to hide my braids and the front part of the wig

I wore wigs for about six weeks this past Spring, both long and short. I got looks and comments when I wore them. Synthetic and Asian processed hair will never look like my natural hair, no matter what I do to it. I seemed to receive more compliments when I wore short styles.

You should expect your co-workers to look and make comments about your hair. As long as none of them are rude, and you've taken great care to ensure that your hair is presentable for the workplace, don't worry about it. You'll find that women comment, look, and/or ask questions because they too want to wear wigs from time to time.

I wear wigs at work. I just get comments about, your hair looks nice.

As long as it is neat and is a professional style (ie no platinum blond or wierd color and no out of this world style) it's very professional

This is me! I never wear my hair out. I'm always wearing lacefronts and halfwigs. I'm one of the three brown faces in our dept and the other girls weaves/wigs are terrible. I've had other co-workers and patients tell me that I should give her some tips . As long as it's not something outrageous then you should be fine

I work in an office environment and I wear wigs to work too (right now I’m in a bun), but no one has ever said anything negative; they only give compliments. I think as long as it’s not too flashy you won’t encounter any problems. I think wigs can add to your professional appearance.

I too, wear a wig daily to work. It's styled nicely and I neva' have a "bad" hair day.

I just douse my hair w/moisturizer, apply my netted cap & go. In Fall/Winter I use a Men's Satin Durag.

It's been a "great" PS. As long as "You" Feel Comfortable in it, You can Rock It! It's all about How You come across wearing the wig.

I used to wear them all the time. The average person cannot tell it's a wig unless it's uber obvious.

I work in a corporate office male environment and I wear a wig, but I wear the same one so as not to draw the questions around whether it's a wig or not.

I wear a half wig almost everyday to work and no one really notice. Most think it is my hair. I'm currently in a phony pony since it is so darn hot out to wear a wig.

I started off my new job wearing wigs, then after my shedding stopped I wore my own hair which was the same length as my wigs, so it wasn't a big deal. Now that I've cut my hair to APL, I'm wearing wigs this new length and as my hair get longer I'll buy longer wigs. I'm pretty consistant with the lengths and they all look presentable. I've gotten some compliments and they're like WOW when I've told a few it was a wig. They all say I would have never known...

If I want to go a little wild or drastic w/my wig styles(short do's, etc), I'll save it for the weekends.

I work in a office and I wear wigs to work 90% of the time. I am so open with mine and I switch up styles often so they know its a wig. I even have some coworkers swear me up and down that my lacewig is my hair. Most of the women at my job wear wigs and weaves so its no big deal. I think they can look professional depending on the style.

My advice - make your own half wig op. This is what I do. I use an old half wig strip it and then add some good realistic looking human hair and voila a wig that is easier to blend.

I wear wigs & half wigs. As long as the style isn't too outlandish (depending on your work environment), I don't see the problem. What manager in their right mind would tell you not to wear a wig?

People notice mine because I switch em up (what can I say? I get bored). And even then sometimes they get fooled into thinking one of them is my real hair. It's no big deal. I will admit, I do work in an environment where questionable weaves are an everyday sight. Wigs > Bad Weaves.

I see no problem in wearing wigs. I have worn them on and off for years at my job. As long as they are not blue, purple, pink, or orange you should be fine.

Lots of people do - some people have long term or permanent hair loss so they basically have to. Most people who don't wear wigs themselves have no idea when they're looking at one. And as long as it conforms with your employer's dress code it's no problem.

I wear one style a month and keep it simple and professional.

I wore one for 9 months. One lady at worked asked me how I got it curly like that and I told her it came like that when I bought it No need for me to lie. I even told another coworker how I blended it.

I didnt think it was unprofessional. There were a few ladies int he office who wore wigs as well.
Just make sure you take out the combs from the wig and use bobby pins instead. And try to switch the position of the pins every now and again to avoid putting too much stress on one area which could cause thinning.
