Sunny On a Cloudy Day
I received my order yesterday and used the product this morning.
All I can say is YUMMY! I did not wear perfume because the smell was so delicious! I wanted everyone to smell my hair!

And on top of the delicious scent, I was very pleased with how it made my hair feel and look.

To all the sistas who told me it was going to be a treat...you weren't kidding!

Nice product.

How did you use this on your hair?

Is it a grease? Gel? What exactly is a pomade? Having been around hair boards for almost 8 years I should know  but...

It has the consistancy of a hair grease but softens easily once you put it on your hands. I used mine after moisturizing my ends with QP Elasta Mango Butter. It was a nice combination...

It's used to seal your moisture in and add shine to the hair. I swear it smells like the most decandent dessert you could imagine!

This is the description from the website...

*********************************

Does your hair love oils? Our "Burnt Sugar" Pomade is a nourishing all-vegetable pomade and styling product named for the uniquely translucent, shimmery quality of warm, homemade caramel.

Similar in texture to an old school 'hair grease,' This blend of oils, butters, and veggie waxes acts as a humectant and protectant for hair, increasing shine to a high glossy sheen and locking in moisture. It's packed with essential fatty acids to nourish scalp, and actually sinks into your hair and skin for a long lasting, non-greasy feeling. It's great for braids, imparts shine and moisture to loose hair, brushes nicely into the hairline for a glossy finish, and adds luster to locks!

Contains virgin coconut cream, mango oil, and hempseed oil in a base of nourishing castor oil. Lightly fragranced with a subtly sweet fragrance that is appropriate for both men and women. 4oz jar.

How does this stuff feel on the hair? Is it heavy or pretty much weightless?

Because I have fine, thin hair I tried to be conservative using it for the first time; I am normally a little heavy-handed. It was not heavy at all. Have you used QP Mango Butter? Mango Butter is creamy but when applied to the hair it can "glue" the hair together or make it lay flat. This product is translucent and does not "glue" the hair down. I like it so far.

I am going to use it for the next few days each morning, a little bit more each time to see if it builds up or does not "perform" well.

I'll report back later in the week...

Thanks for this update....I can't wait to get mine!!!

I just stocked up on the Whipped Pudding and I already love the Burnt Sugar Pomade! Oyin products smell so gooooood!

I received the Oyin Burnt Sugar Pomade at the LA Product exchange and I'm trying to figure out how it's different from regular hair grease.

I've used it on my hair twice, once on dry hair the other time on wet. I didn't get any shine or sheen or wave/coil definition and it feels like it builds up very easy.

Also, while it does smell like burnt sugar, I don't think that's necessarily a good thing.

ETA: I washed my hair twice with clarifying shampoo followed by my moisturizing poo and con and the smell of this crap is still lingering.

I bought this yesterday from Whole Foods because I noticed it doesn't have petroleum in it plus I thought it would melt like butter in my hands. It didn't melt in my hands and it didn't feel any different than regular hair grease.
