I just wanted to share a cute thing that happened to me this morning. I had to go off site to do a project for work this morning. After we were finished we packed up the materials and headed outside to load the things up in the project leader's van. It was raining a little outside, just misting. I'm just walking along carrying my load not thinking much of it. The one other AA person going to the van was walking on the sidewalk behind me. The other ladies were white. The AA said to me "Hurry up girl and get out of this rain. You know how we do". And quite frankly I was momentarily caught off guard. I'm on this board so much reading about people who wash their hair everyday, some say their hair stays wet, and I myself wash 2 -3 times a week. A little mist of rain doesn't bother me. So I just kinda laughed nervously and chose not to get into a discussion about black people and wet hair. She got an umbrella when she got to the van and the white ladies did not. I guess I just forgot for a minute "how we do" because I'm not around other black people when it's raining that much.:darkcloud:

LOL!!! I feel you. I can't front though - if my hair is pressed and curled...I'm running from some rain!!! The only time I'm easygoing about it is when it's in its natural state.

That made me think of a few weeks ago when I stood out in the pouring rain to see Obama at his rally and since my hair was in kinky twists, I just stayed in place. Another friend of mine who is natural just took the rain too, but my friend who regularly relaxes and rocks a straight style took to the hills. So yea, I def. understand just ignoring rain now (although when my hair is pressed I too head for the hills! :lachen:)

I would have stood in a monsoon if I was gonna get a chance to hear/see Obama speak...with pressed hair and some suede shoes!!! :)

Ahh the rain.. I remember those days. I'm natural now so I don't run from the rain anymore. Its so liberating. I only go back to panic mode when I have a straight hair. God knows my hair will turn back into an afro with one drop

I'm definitely a "You Know how we do" person, but yesterday, I was going to class and literally got DRENCHED! I only wash once a week due to time, and it's not time again until Sunday. However, I didn't panic. I put my wet hair into a bun during class. When I got home it was still damp, so I oiled it really good, made several braids and put rollers on the ends. I put my satin scarf around the top. When I woke up, I took the braids down and had nice, sexy hair.

When I came to work today, everyone complimented me on my waves. So maybe I'll consider moving out of the "You Know how we do" category. :lachen::lachen::lachen:
