Naturals...How Many Times Do You Color?

Does your hair change color with frequent washing....i colored my hair black with garnier nutrisse about 3 weeks ago and it seems my hair is changing color again. Is anyone having this problem with frequent washing, if so how many times do you dye your hair? What are you using?

I try to only dye my greys every 3 months

I wash and DC 2x's per week. I color with NUPUR henna every month. My greys remain auburn/brown. I think I have really reached my henna saturation, I've been henna'ing for almost two years now. The first year it was 2x's per month, now I've moved on to once per month, and I never lose my color even with washing and DC'ing with heat 2x's per week.

Right now my hair is lightened (top half of my head). I just recently touched up the roots which would make it about 5-6 months. Since I'm lightening, I like to have long enough roots/newgrowth for me to touch up just the roots only with minimal overlapping since I'm doing it myself.

When I was wearing black hair color, I used Natural Instincts Midnight Black and I reapplied it every 6 months as well. It would start to fade some before that time.
