Okay, so I decided to straighten my hair tonight, against my own better judgment, and a week earlier than I was supposed to.

Oh, the disappointment of it all!!

I had always believed that by the time I could feel my hair touching my shoulders, I'd claim SL in less than a heartbeat. Humph! Well that didn't pan out! Yes I can feel my hair on my shoulders when I straighten it now, but it just doesn't look like shoulder length hair at all to me! I can definitely tell it's growing,(minus a small trim I did last month) but it's just not where I thought it'd be after nearly 14 months! It is also worthy of note that the back of my hair is now longer than it's been in ages, but even that's not enough to satisfy my insatiable hair lust! I really want to be excited and happy for the progress I've made up to this point, but I just can't help but notice how very far I still have to go!

Forgive my whining ladies, I guess I just want a little encouragement. I know I'm not the only one who has hairrexia here! :look::lol:

It looks full and healthy! And it's definitely growing! Congrats on making it this far (FNL) and you'll be FSL by the summer. It looks like you're only 1-2 inches away.

It will sneak up on you before you know it...especially with summer coming...but you know what they say about watched pots, right?...lol

Your hair looks healthy, so that's a great start...it's not far at all from SL. Just continue with what you have been doing (minus the early heat..hmm hmm..clears throat) and your mane will be comparable to Mufasa himself. Then you can bask in your crown and glory...then pick a new length goal that will make your Mufasa mane feel hairrexic again..lol

You've done great!

Awwww! Come here for an e-hug :bighug:

Your hair sure has grown from what I see in your siggie, your ends are thick and not see through, and it looks shiny and full.

Don't get impatient with your hair :nono:, whatever you're doing with it, it's working! Just let it do it's stuff. You'll be shoulder length in a matter of months.

You wouldn't be disappointed with your baby if s/he hadn't grown a first tooth at the age all the baby books say s/he had to, or hadn't sat up yet at the time s/he was supposed to. You would understand, that your baby will do those things when they're ready. Your hair is the same...:yep:

Your hair looks full and healthy to me! Do you mind me asking how you get your roots straight prior to straightening your hair? I am having such a difficult time getting a wearable press b/c I have been unable to get my root area straight prior to pressing my hair.

OoooWee your hair is looking mighty fine!

i remember when i was EL i said APL would be my ultimate goal, but once i got there i had to have more ... smh (i blame ya'll)

I have it full on, so I feel your pain. Especially because thanks to LHCF APL is not long to me AT ALL, it's actually borderline short. Your hair looks full and healthy though, so great job!

rarejewel Thanks! And Yes, I know about the watched "pot" but it's kinda hard not to watch it come to a boil, especially as this particular "pot" happens to be sitting right on top of my head! I get what you mean though. I'm trying to be patient.

Bajanmum :bighug:

I really appreciated your comment! Kinda makes me look at my hair with a different perspective, you know. In spite of my whining though, I really am glad for the progress I've made so far. :yep:

Thanks morehairplease! As far as getting my roots straight, I didn't really do anything. I just blew my hair out and then flat ironed it. I don't really care about getting my roots straight. However, If you want straight roots, I suggest roller setting. If you get your rollers in nice and taut, (not too tight though) your roots should be nice and straight! You can either air dry in the rollers, or sit under a hooded dryer.

And of course you'll show pics when your done flat ironing!

Your hair is a healthy SL! Look at those ends!!!!!!! I need that recipe.
How long have you been at it? Just imagine where you'll be in another year!!!!

Oh wow!! Thanks so much, though I don't think I'm quite ready to claim SL just yet! :wink2:

I've been on my HHJ since 1-25-10. On that day, I BC'd down to half an inch, so what I have on my head right now is about a week shy of 14 months worth of growth and retention. :yep:

I completely understand, Sianna, and agree with Elle!!!! Before LHCF, I thought APL was sooooo long, and while I am happy I am now APL, I feel like my hair is still really short.
But your hair has made great progress and I would KILL for your ends. Keep it up, honey, because whatever you are doing is working and you will reach your goals in NO time, AND will have the added benefit of not having to worry about how much you'll have to sacrifice because of your uneven ends (ie. ME!).

Yep hun, I do have it...my hair is nowhere near as long as yours, I am Ear length and it sucks!!! lol but I know that my hair is healthy (albeit very dry) and I know if I just keep my hair happy it will make me happy in the end. Your hair is so pretty, keep it up and you'll be full SL in a matter of 3 or 4 months, I know it!

Your hair looks thick, lush, and healthy. Whatever you're doing is working. Just make sure to protect your hair at night by wearing a silk bonnet so you can retain length.

I was at your length in 2007 and it felt like it was going to be short forever. Before I knew it my hair was SL, then APL, etc. Theres no cure for hair anorexia tho LOL

You've certainly made progress! And this time next year, you'll have double what you have now!

BostonMaria Wow!! Looking at your hair now, it's hard to believe it was ever as short as mine!

And as far as wearing a bonnet (or scarf) I ALWAYS sleep in a satin bonnet or scarf! In fact I attribute a great amount of my length retention to that very fact! I never used to wear anything on my head at night, but when I started, I noticed a dramatic difference in retention! :yep:

Let me hurry up and post this before Ellie or anybody else smacks me (see my siggie LOL) This was me in Nov 2007 a few months after my BC. I felt like I was stuck at this length forever. At some point you'll look in the mirror and say hey my hair finally grew!

BostonMaria THANK YOU for posting your 2007 pic...whenever I see you post I just stare at your AVI for a minute or two and I have a serious case of hairrexia but seeing that 2007 pic has made me pretty happy to know that your hair has grown to the point it is now, gives me and my little 3 inches of hair hope. Thanks. Now back to your studies (both of us actually!)

Your hair looks nice, thick & healthy...Keep doing PS & watch it continue to take off....(when your not looking) that is when/it grows the most...lol

Happy Hair Growing!
