this is what I do too twice a day. co wash everyday and then put argan oil on my hair while wet and then style with mixed chicks leave in and at night I spray with water and acv and then put my oils like castor oil on my scalp and hairveda whipped creme and coconut oil and seal with shea butter and plait up.

whatever moisturizer I use, I always make sure I use water (or aloe juice or flax gel) and oil with it. Keeping my hair wet or wet bunning doesn't work for me (mushy hair). But I need to give a little bit of water to my dry hair every night before moisturizing and styling and this is the only way my ends don't get dry until the next wash day, whenever it is. The moisturizer, makes my hair less greasy from the oil/more touchable. By moisturizer I mean anything with an emulsifier and some water in it, such as conditioner. It also helps if your hair gets matted with water an oil only. But moisturizer and oil only doesn't work for me for.. say... a whole week or more than 2 days.

Do you spritz water on your ends (with a water bottle?), seal and wrap at night? I can only imagine it working this way for someone who is relaxed like me...

What do you seal with?

i have been sealing with a serum, but i do not think it works to well. I have sweet almond oil on hand though. I recently had a keratin tx. the kind you can use with a relaxer, however the limited choices of moisturizers killed me. My hair ended up very dry. So, I have decided to discontinue the treatments.

I'm trying so hard to remember who told me this/where i read it

but someone told me or i must of read it that: The only way to influence the (TRUE) NATURE of your hair is before it grows out of your head (by diet). once it's out you only influence cosmetically how it looks (i.e. straighten/style it with products/heat etc).

Curlykale -what was your water to conditioner ratio again? & at the bolded, is 2 days your maximum (for moisturised hair), or do you get a bit more moisture when you add some water to the moisturiser/condish?

@bb09 I don't add water to my products: I very lightly wet each section using my fingers, just once or twice and while smoothing it, then I apply any conditioner and sealant and I braid it. If I do this every single night, then I can go on forever and my hair keeps elastic and fresh.

if I add water only, my hair mats once dry, especially near the scalp. That is why I then add my moisturizers: to keep my hair lubricated and to seal the water in.

if I moisturize at night with conditione/moisturizer and sealant only, without wetting it, my hair feels thirsty after 2 days post wash day and my ends especially start feeling dry, no matter how much product I add.

By lightly wetting and then moisturizing with something creamy and oil daily, I can go on for weeks without problems. I usually wet my sections with water, but sometimes I use aloe (I find it detangling) or flax gel (for some more hold).
