I am 6'3 with no shoes on and BABY!"In my Toya Carter" voice....I will be one happy person when I finally get to BSL. I think I am currently at APL, but it seems like I can never get past this point. We shall see....2011 may be my year to reach my goal of BSL by Christmas, but I need to take some NEW pics to see where I'm really at.

I get slightly irritated when the shorties say height has nothing do to with length because of long torso yadda yadda...at the end of the day of course the short people are going to reach waist length faster because they have less body to cover!

Ironically I'm to short to join (5'6) but just wanted to show support!!!

What's going to be your regimen? I'm starting at arm pit length this year and going for bra strap length. I have made tons of homemade hair concations but I always love to hear more ideas. Like how often people srtaighten their hair? I was going to see how long I can go without using a flat iron. I started 9-9-09 and didn't touch my blow dryer or flat iron until Christmas Eve. I know I'm not going to the salon and will be doing everything at home and making my own conditioners and creams but I'm still in the learning process. Any suggerstions???

Is anyone doing a challenge? Where can I join?

Daily CO Washes and 16 week relaxer stretches are what I am doing now. I am going to start roller setting every other week after my relaxer on the 15th. No official challenges though. I'm 6'3 and trying my best to be at BSL by Christmas 2011.

I am LATE!!!!! Didn't know this thread existed. I think I may be the tallest tree in the forest.....I stand 6ft 3in tall barefoot and I LOVE IT!!!! I am a tiny bit past shoulder length and have been forever.

You and I are the same height! Your hair is gorgeous.....we need to revive this thread. I need help!!!!!

Yeah, let's do this. I'm 5 foot 9 and transitioning. People normally say that it takes them 2 years to grow to shoulder length from bald but i'm sure it's gonna take me 3 with my long neck.

I'm 5'9" too. It took me a year to go from bald to sl. But I can't seem to get past it. It's killing me. APL is sooo far! I'm in! It's like another year without any breakage or set backs. I don't see that happening

I'm in. I'm tall, and I've been hovering at BSL for what feels like a year. ( I have been trimming and shaping my hair along the way so I know that is a factor) but I wish I would just get there already. I just want a solid blunt WL when straight length, and theres at least another years worth of distance to go, plus the trimming to have it be full and blunt at that length. *sigh*

People act like height is not a factor but it is. To use an extreme example, my 4 year old cousin has waist length hair. On my head that same length would be to my shoulders. HEIGHT MATTERS! Don't look at me with your 5'0" self and tell me its in my head.

Amen! Height does matter.....from the top of my head to my armpit is like 5 miles....lol....full BSL is going to be like waist length for someone that's 5'3.....being that I am 6'3!

Wow! I didn't know about this thread. Tallest female in my family at 5'9" 1/2. Everybody else is under 5'4". lol~!

It really does feel like it takes forever to get from one point to the next considering one's height. At the start of this year I became super length sensitive (I kept asking my sister if my hair looked shorter haha!) & to calm my nerves went on a bit of an assurance experiment. Basically, I only washed & did a blow out 1x a month & bunned like a manic in that straightened state throughout. I was all up in my castor oil (still am) and silk scarfed religiously (still do it now). I definitely saw progressive growth in 3 months (went back to regular wash beginning of April). I minimized on breakage, which was great since I had to deal with shedding (I think I'm a cold weather shedder).

We just gotta stay consistent especially since we have a longer way to go~! Minimize breakage (For me: silk scarf &/or pillowcase, low manip, seamless hair holders, etc) & at the very least protect your ends & edges at night.

Since it's getting warmer I think I'm going to go back to my daily co-wash/bunning. That really got me through my early stages after bc & I got good growth due to the heat. No point in me sitting in a hot Dominican salon. Happy hair growing fellow amazons!

I'm 5'10 1/2 and checking in! I just measured and getting very close to MBL (I'm a couple inches past APL). If I was 5'2 I'd probably be set!

I am with you for sure. I am 5'10.5. My full APL looks like SL on me. It would be MBL on someone else.

Hang in there. Long hair looks GREAT on tall women....a real head turner.

I'm laughing because I'm 5'10.5 also and whenever I tell people the half part they laugh. I'm soooooo happy to see I'm not the only one counting the decimals LOL. I used to say 5'11 just to round it up but then people would say oh, just say you're 6 feet (men tend to round up just to appear taller). Then when I rounded down to 5'10 they said oh, you look taller than that. But I am what I am, 5'10.5!!!!

But yeah, getting to APL is taking FOREVER! I can look at another member's hair and without looking at their body I say to myself, her hair looks about my length but she's already APL. That sucks but oh well, I love being tall so I don't mind.

Although I'm tall I don't have a long neck so it was pretty quick getting to SL but boy oh boy, getting past SL is another story.

Im 5'8" and it seems like it is taking forever to get where I want to be. 24" of hair added to what I already have, would put me at CL. I am not aiming that high, lol. I will settle for WL unstretched.

We shall see when I actually arrive, but I will do my best to make it there by 2013 (*positive* wishful thinking)

I finally made apl this past summer. When I flat iron this Dec, I'll see how close I am to being "full" apl.

But anyhoo, I have a long torso also. MBL on me is definitely waist length on ladies with more of a standard stature. I am pretty much at BSL. I am waiting until December 31st to fully claim it though. I'm hoping to gain a full inch in that time through taking L-cysteine, multi-vitamins, and exercising.

Yay! I didn't even realize this thread was here... I guess Iam one of the taller ones. I am a little under 6 "2. My torso and all upper body is average length.It's my legs that are extremely long. I always get " I had no idea you were tall, when you were sitting down" line. I love every inch of my height.
Iam currently neck length. I cut all my hair off in May 2011, because I wanted short hair at the time. I regret doing that, anyhow now my goal is BSL.
Regardless it does seem like its harder work for us tall ladies to grow out our hair. Now we can support one another. Great thread OP!

Good question! 2011 was supposed to be my year of BSL.....ummm.....NOT.....my hair is longer than most people I know, but still not BSL....I think my Brastrap is lower than most as well....lol...I'm still working on it. Pics below of blown out hair but I need to RELAX, BLOW DRY, and TRIM....then post some real LENGTH pics....coming next week

I'm 5'11. I reached wl from SL in two years. But I have an awesome sulfur mix and I rarely wore my hair out for two years. Now I wear it out a bit more, but I'm working on hip length. I definitely saw/see my height as somewhat of an obstacle but that's why my reggie is pretty aggressive. Hope this helps ladies! God bless!
