Brazilian Hair Treatment (The best thing ever!)

Thats what makes me nervous. They aren't straight forward with what the process is and how it makes it straight, with or without formaldehyde

I know with some products, if the amount of a certain ingredient falls below a certain level/percentage, the FDA will allow you to claim that your product is "free" of said product. Even though technically that's not true.

I know that some of you have heard of this and are afraid to try ti because of the formaldehyde..but there's a formaldehyde free formula and it works just as well...I have 3c/4a hair and I got the treatment done and my hair is just as stright as a relaxer but without the damage..

I def have noticed a huge difference in the strength of my hair...Almost no hair falls out when I comb it and my hair stays silky and smooth without having to put any kiond of moisturizer in it.

And just so you know..I'm 100% natural. The best part is that I don't have to commit to it because it only lasts for a few months and then I can opt to have it redone or to go back to my natural hair styles. If you want more info on where you can get it done in the South Florida area let me know...

I've been a member of these boards for about 4 or 5 years now so I know how to take care of my hair and I wouldn't try something if I didn't think it would work. (my stylist laughs because she had to go out and buy a wide tooth comb because i refused to have anything else in my hair)

For those who try this, I really hope it does work and is as formaldehyde-free as the marketers say. I already gave up relaxing in part because of the cost, so couldn't possibly pay even more for a "safer" relaxer.

So sorry for the delay in response. I took some time off 1/25 through 1/28. I do have the formaldehyde free version available. Your hair being unprocessed will not be straightened with any safe levels of BKT. Will it be frizz/ humidity free and protected from heat styling, yes. Will it be straight without any effort, no. In order for you hair to have a straight result from the first process it would have to be presoftened or mildly relaxed. I hope this answer your questions. Let me know more about what you are trying to achieve and perhaps there is a different solution.

I'm doing some research about Brazilian Keratin Treatments. I'm interesting in having the process done early spring or early summer. I'm African American with non chemically treated 3b/3c hair that is below mid back length when stretched. I'm interested the treatment because it will not permanently straighten my hair. I've read that there are some BKTs with or without formaldehyde. Does your brand of treatment include the ingredient?

BKTs don't relax/texturize. You'd have to relax/texturize before the treatment to get a straight effect. From what understand BKTs are coat the hair for an extreme conditioning effect (prevents frizz, heat protection). It will not make unprocessed hair straight. You are not required to touch it up. The effect wears away after 2-3 months. Then it can be reapplied to the whole head.

For the Atlanta ladies - I did a search & found one salon that does it. At 1st I became alarmed b/c someone had posted about them on Citysearch saying that they used formaldehyde & the business actually responded saying that they were using less than 0.2%, which is FDA approved. So I decided to give them a call. They actually have the formaldehyde free formula now. The salon is:

Well if they arent using formaldehyde in it, the product might have Aldehyde which is a weaker form of formaldehyde, so I would really doubt that this straightens effectively.
