if you're relaxed, how do you co-wash your hair everday?

How do you style your hair??? how do you dry it? I can't possibly imagine how people with texlax hair do it? I'm asking these questions, because I would not mind doing it if I knew how. Do most of you wear braidouts during the week, so it is easier for you to style??? I've always wondered how you do it?

I'm relaxed and I cw every day. I just pull it back into a bun and go on about my day! :)

I bet many people do this. Seems like it would cause mid shaft breakage, though? Hell....what do I know. I never did it. Thanks for answering my question. I've heard of people doing this.

I either braid it into one braid, put it up in a ponytail, bun it, or use a claw clip with it twisted gently. I try not to pull it back too tight.

You could probably also pin it up or use decorative combs to keep it together for something pretty. =)

Im not dissing anyone's methods. If it works for you, do you boo. But the way I look at it is I relaxed for a reason, I want to wear my hair straight with more ease, so the only time I co wash often is in the summer or if I don't feel like straightening it. More often than not, I end up straightening it because that is obviously the look I want.

I co wash every day and to me the key is to keep it MOISTURIZED!! If not, atleast on my hair, it will break. I co-washed while stretching every day for six months last year with no problems because I made sure that I kept it moisturized, and then in a bun it went.

I have been co washing about every 3 days.....but I do find that my hair is becoming very wavy and going back to it's thick state.....but my roots are still straight. :ohwell: I don't mind it being that way because I'm more concerned about obtaining healthy, longer hair :yep:....but I just wish I knew how to style it so that I wont have to flat-iron as often because I know that too much heat is bad. I know that most people do buns etc.....but my hair is kinda cut into a bob. How and what can I do with short hair? Are there any protective styles for short hair other than wearing wigs and sew ins? Since I've been doing my own hair for the longest now...I'm always quick to throw in a sew in or some micros when I get the time....but I'm tired of the weaves!!!!!!!:nono:

If your hair is shorter you could pin it up? I'd make sure to oil the hair pins so they don't pull a strand out, maybe.

I also do this often and I use Reniece Satin Scarf Wrap Technique and my roots are straight in the morning and my ends are a little damp but soft and moisturized. I don't use a rubber dand or anything, just the satin scarf does the trick.

Works for my relaxed hair.

I agree. This will not work for me. I would rather be natural.

during the summers, i have gone through periods of co-washing daily. I either pull it back into a bun (not the cutest style) or a do a wash and go that requires wet manipulation. Funny enough, it is actually harder to do this wash and go now that half my hair is texlaxed...it just doesnt look as good. I have pics of it in my fotki.

Hat's off to you ladies. I could not imagine having to deal with my hair and ng every day.

When I'm trying to stretch, its the only way I can deal with my NG! Its either CW daily/every other day or use heat on the NG, and since I'm bootcamping, I gotta go with Option #1. And since I'm bunning everyday, it really doesn't matter if I wash more frequently, cause its all gonna get pulled back anyway.

I jumped on the co-washing bandwagon when I first started my hair journey and my hair did not like it. But, when I was doing it I did braid-outs. Unfortunately, my hair began to shed like crazy and got really mushy.:nono:

I'm relaxed and I co-wash often..at least every other day...and as it gets warmer I will start daily.....My hair loves it!!!! I used to have very dry hair but after co-washing and being able to deep condition twice a week my hair is loving it.....My hair has never been so soft....:yep:

I have been CW for about a week now. Yes, my hair is the softest it has ever been.

i wish i could throw in a sew in !!! but u might want to try a braidout and then put a headband on the front or something like that..

I forgot to mention. Sometime during the summer when my hair is feeling dry. I sometime would just cw my ends when my hair was long. I focused on the last 4 inches of my hair while in the shower and my ends loved it too......

I've wanted to try this so badly, but I am managing hair loss and in a sort of recovery right now and everytime I wash my hair there is still lots of carnage and shedding. I particularly hate comb-out. If I could be comfortable washing more than once a week or so, I'd wash every couple of days. Nothing like having a clean, fresh head of hair!

I've been co-washing every other day, and I love it. I'm relaxed and at about 14 weeks post relaxer. I co-wash at night and then put my hair in one braid. Then in the morning, I moisturize, seal with oil, and put it in a bun. It's really wavy, but it's soft. My bun is still damp, but the top of my head is dry. It works for me.

Any relaxed 4bs do a wash and go? How does that work out? I didn't think it would work on my hair.

That is what I was really curious about also, although I appreciate all of the suggestions. :yep: I didn't think it was possible. If my hair gets longer, a wash and go might work for me. I don't think it can work for me at this point, though.

Thanks for asking this question. I was wondering too. I am texlaxed but just started 8 weeks ago so I have NG, texlaxed & relaxed hair. I am washing tonight and then will see how it looks in the morning to bun.

I hate bunning.... I rarely pin it up...but this week I have pinned it up and been on my way lol... But i cw every 3 days. I roll my hair up if I do it early enough and let it airdry. I wrap and tada!! I have a kute air dried roller wrap. It still looks straight and sexy while being good for my hair... =) But around that 5 and 6th week post relaxer...it is a lil bushy...but I'm tryna learn to saran wrap cuz i REFUSE to use the flat iron!

mine too! it got much better when I went back to washing my hair once a week

I'm really used to washing/cowashing my hair every time I shower, especially past week 4 in my stretch. I then bun or pin my hair up in a clip. This works for me because I shower at night (except on weekends) so that I can just wake up, clothe myself, and hurry to class. Sometimes, I'll skip cowashing for a day or two if I'm sporting a braidout or bantu knot set.

If I want to get my ends a little straight after cowashing, I'll gather all of my hair when its a little damp and set it on one big roller, put on my bonnet, and go to sleep. In the morning, my ends are slightly bumped.
