Ok, so my husband and I have been talking a lot lately about wanting to live healthier lifestyles. He works out a lot but feels that he has hit a stalemate and has been researching reasons why he is not losing anymore weight. Then he heard about this detox program on the radio the other day that one of the DJ's was talking about that she uses and he and I became really interested. So today, we were watching TV and flipped to a shopping-type channel by accident. There was this guy talking about his colon-cleansing program and how he passed a stool 6-ft long! It freaked me out so I went to the store looking for some Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In

Lord, when I came back home, he had done some research and found the top-rated body-detox product out there. When he started telling me stories about the people who have taken this stuff, I about lost my mind! I'm not going to get graphic, I'll let you discover it for yourselves, but I really wanted to mention it to you ladies since everybody is always being so helpful and sharing with their methods, and generally, you lot have a pretty open mind. It all really freaked me out at first but I'm feeling a little better about it now that it has sunk in some and I'd honestly rather rid myself of all of the toxins and parasites (yes worms ) than live with that stuff inside of me.

Anyway, I figured this is hair related since people say that it has helped them with everything from losing weight, clearing up acne, eczema and some diseases, to growing stronger hair and nails! The toxins that the parasites produce block the things that your body is supposed to do naturally, like grow hair, and healthy foods and water and whatnot don't have the effect that they should due to the years and years worth of buildup inside of our intestines (think clogged drain system). Mostly though, I really wanted to pass along the message since I think that its important. Lots of people on here are into healthy mind, body and soul.

Here's the link to the Colonix program: http://www.drnatura.com/index.html

In my research, this has been the best one that I've found. One lady said that she's done other detox programs, then she did this one and so much "stuff" came out that she was mad at wasting her money on the others... When we order, we're definitely going with this one. Gotta wait until next pay period though, cuz 6 boxes 'aint cheap

1. Colon cleansing?
What's wrong with apples and water....? What happened to just increasing your fiber intake?

2. Anywho--I was a radiology tech whose worked with SEVERAL Radiologists and they all basically say the same thing. :ohwell:
It's almost unnecessary to spend money on expensive treatments but whatever...
You know something?
There are a lot of entertainers who get those colonic cleansing treatments. Like--they go to the doctor and have the 'procedure' done. :ohwell:

I used to stick tubes, air and milliliters of liquid up the rear ends of perfectly conscious ppl who'd just spent the last 12-20 hours on a toilet.
I can assure you (if it weren't absolutely necessary) they wouldn't have the procedure done if the freakin hospital paid them.

But--when you have an abundance of money you look for crap to do with it i guess. Still makes no sense. I mean it's not like it's 'pleasant'. Wouldn't catch me laid up on somebody's table volunteering for that procedure. Please.
I'd buy a penthouse, a grove of apple trees and call it a day....

3. Some microbes in the bowel are helpful. Anyway microbes are a part of our existence. It's a symbiotic relationship. You have the lil buggers all over you.
Right now, in fact. As your reading this post.
You'll never get rid of them all.
Never.
The little parasites live, breed, eat your 'flakes' and s**t on your skin, for hell's sake.
(Which btw is actually what makes ppl stink. :yep: Did you know? Isn't that fascinating in a weird way...?

4. I've performed Barium Enema's on patients with sections of their large bowel removed because of a lack of , umm......'upkeep'--I guess you could say...? One chick's large bowel ruptured. She went through emergency surgery and the doc had to take her organs out and 'wash them' because there was s*** all over the place.

They ended up removing her ascending portion of colon. And now she's walking around with a colostomy attached to her side.:ohwell:
Not the fashion statemnet she wanted to make, I'm sure.
...sad thing is the whole thing could have been avoided if she'd just included more fiber in her diet. :nono:

The moral of the story is: I'm not pooin all over anyone's idea and if ppl wanna pay for that then...do you, you know. Whatever. More power to you.
I don't want to get on some 'Colon Awareness' rant here :lachen:
Well anymore than I already have  but...the medic in me is coming out.
I'm just saying what I know. So take it for what it's worth.

An apple a day truly does keep the dr away.
a. PLEASE EAT YOUR FIBER & DRINK WATER.
b. Get your annual colon screenings when you reach 50, or sooner if recommended.
c.
Eat properly and take care of your colon from today on--because real talk....you really do NOT want your 'plumbing' to go out on you.

There's nothing wrong with getting your colon cleansed.
I haven't gotten hydrotherapy yet; however, I have been on a colon cleansing program which was great; for one thing, my skin cleared up and furthermore, I didn't feel as sluggish, and I'm not overweight in the least!
It was very beneficial for me and as a matter of fact, I'm looking forward to doing it again.

So I know from personal experience that there are benefits to be had from cleansing the colon and it's not that uncomfortable.
But then again, I haven't done an actual colonic yet. (Whenever I get it done, I hope I remember to come back to tell if it's that bad or not)
Though, everyone that I know who has had it done reported good things about it.

You can take and drink the recommended dosages of fiber and water everyday all you want to, (God bless anyone who does this consistently) but even with that you won't eliminate every last bit of what you've taken in.

What about you Morenita?

I wasn't referring to the type that celebrities get, like Usher, but to the more thorough kind that fully detox your body, from your stomach, to your liver, intestines, etc. I know that some bacteria is normal, but you're saying that buildup inside of your intestines (feels like rubber and shaped like your intestines, so you know its been there a long time) is healthy and supposed to be there? I mean, I'm just going by what I've read, but there's people saying that they have lived healthy lifestyles, i.e. eaten fruits and veggies and exercised, who have horror stories of the stuff coming out of them.

Then there's the people who say that they lost a lot of weight, but for the life of them, got stuck on that last 20lbs, then they did a detox, and stuff came out that you wouldn't believe. They talk about increased energy, improved hair, improved skin, etc. Nobody mentions anything explosive about bowel movements either.

Of course you're always going to have something there that's not meant to be there, but if you've never taken steps to detox, just eating more fruit isn't going to remove the gunk that's built-up. Hell, there's even people talking about other systems that they've used that haven't given even half the results. If this stuff is all made from God-intended herbs and such, isn't it all natural anyway? It makes sense to me...

I should have named it "Body Detox" and not "Colon Cleanse" because now everybody is going to think that I mean just when you go get the procedure done. What I'm referring to is much more thorough. There are many different kinds of systems out there, but the best one I've seen is recommended for 3 months, and it removes the build-up of all of the stuff you've eaten all of your life that sits inside of your intestines, as well as detoxes your other organs such as your stomach. One guy had a worm removed from his EYE! The detox takes down the barriers that the parasites put up in order to not be detected by your bodies' immune system so that you can expel it properly. Its on Youtube if you wanna google it.

Personally yes, I plan on detoxing, along with my husband, and making it a part of my healthier lifestyle. We're going to buy it next month.

Thank you Nita I have been wanting to do a detox program for a while now but then I put it on the back burner. I am looking into this detox program. I saw the website and EWWWWWWWWWW. I don't know what I would do if something rubbery came out of me. But if it is inside me then I want it OUT!

Yeah, I heard or read about a guy removing a parasite from his eye!!
But I know what you mean about detoxing from other organs.
I plan to do it as well but there are sooooo many programs out there.
I think I have an idea where I want to get my programs from, but not quite sure.
Which program are you going to be going with?

Oooh, you know what else I'm going to invest in?
Those Ion Detox Foot Spas.
Have you seen what those things can pull from the body???

1. Colon cleansing?
What's wrong with apples and water....?

Totally! That really works for me. Granny smith apples and water.

I have done colon cleanses in the past. I did the "basic" laxative types and then the colon cleanse type. I used Renew Life's brand by Brenda Watson after seeing a PBS special. It seemingly worked. I did not lose weight. I did not see parasites and weird-o stuff like in that Dr. Natura site.

Since I did not see or feel a difference and I know that I've felt better after what I call an apple detox/cleanse/fast I did some research. Those of us in this discussion will never agree, but from my research from Western medicine and holistic medicine and Eastern medicine, the general consensus is that colon cleanse products or programs are unnecessary.

Our body is self-cleaning and self-detoxing and does not need additives. If our body is not functioning at its optimum, there are foods we can eat to try to correct it or assist it but adding probiotics etc. is not necessary. In fact, what I read found that people can get sick from theses colon cleanses because they reduce the good bacteria and tiny critters in our bodies that are there to do the work.

All in all, my opinion is: if a person is in general good health, a colon cleanse would not necessarily be a bad thing and if someone wants to do it, then have at it; but it is not necessary so I now do without.

ETA: i wanted to add that i also learned from a coroner (?) that there is no "build up" in ppls intestines. our bodies clean that stuff out. this is what i was told b/c this person does autopsies and if there were life long build up in our intestines they'd see it in autopsies. keep in mind that is hearsay since i'm not privy to seeing dead ppls intestines i have to take him at his word. LOL

Ok, so now that I've seen your original post.

Colonix is the exact program I used and I LOVED IT!!!!!!!
Detox is TOTALLY hair related.

Morenita, you won't regret it. That program was great.
The tea was good.
Get this, the Fiber was actually good too!
I mixed my Fiber with Tang and it was so good; it got to a point where I didn't like drinking Tang without the Fiber!:lachen:
I bought the Paranil Jr. for my kids and it's been beneficial to them too.
Yeah, the things that come out.....OMG!

Our body is self-cleaning and self-detoxing and does not need additives.
Our body is self-cleaning and self-detoxing; However, our body's do need additional help with herbs because in today's society of food additives, preservatives, chemicals and hormones being added to the food our bodies have to work so much harder first to eliminate the toxins and then try to absorb vitamins and nutrients (if any ) which are almost in nil amounts if the food isn't organic.
So much toxin buildup in our systems leave the body not operating optimally.
Additional detox is very needed; unless you are strictly organic/vegan.
Even then, it'd still be beneficial to do heavy metal cleanses.

I've used this product. Let's just say it works and call it a day :look:

I was very surprised. It took 2 days to notice a change. I didn't have any parasites or worms. Hopefully mine shouldn't be that apparent, seeing as I don't eat meat. The tea is off the chain!!! It had me running out of the bed every morning at 8 am!!

If your hubby is worried that he may have parasites, then he should try it, but you can buy any fiber supplement and get the same results. I use Yerba Prima Psyllium Husks from Whole Foods.

Re: This Could Improve Your Hair Health/Growth Rate

I want in on this convo!!!
WOW!!! That is graphic...My detox didn't do nothing like that. I would have to be under a doc's care for this!!!
lol but I had a whole body detox last year with a whole body cleanser from vitamin shoppe which regulated me daily with no strains but the most important factor was I and anyone who does take a cleanser MUST drink ALOT of WATER. Everytime I turned around I had water! But they say you must be under a physician when doing a colon cleanse. Mine was more herbal and I also took Flaxseed since I was told it offered fiber. I'm assuming my detox was mild compared to the site you posted. But I think my hair grew about the same as t usually does but who knows since it was the summer when I done it and if I do get a summer growth spurt it may or may not have been from it.

My issues the site list:
Frequent fatigue and low energy
Flatulence, gas & bloating
Excess weight
Impaired digestion???
Irritability, mood swings
Recurring headaches
Constipation
Irritable bowels
Protruding belly ("pooch")
Powerful food cravings(sugar lol)
Skin problems, rashes, etc.

this is the one I took:

I did a 30 day detox program that included colon cleansing. Along with taking out the bad, I had to put a lot of healthy things in as far as nutrient dense foods and drinks. I didn't do it to loose weight but I lost 15 pounds in two weeks. Also, by the end of the 30 day detox, my skin was so clear that my co-workers asked what type of make-up I was using. My female cycle was always heavy and lasted 5 to 7 days with painful cramping. During the cleanse, it lasted three days with no pain. Some other benefits I noticed were:

Increased libido
Lots of energy
Singing voice was clear
breath smelled pleasant upon rising in the morning
little aches that I thought were normal, went away
My elination didn't smell, (no air freshner needed.)

As I re-introduced unhealthy foods back into my lifestyle, I saw my body decline. I am very pro-detox. I have also had colonics. I have felt ill, almost feverish and gotten a colonic and felt immediately better.

Thank you Nita I have been wanting to do a detox program for a while now but then I put it on the back burner. I am looking into this detox program. I saw the website and EWWWWWWWWWW.

You are so welcome! I'm glad that this was well-received by at least some of you :) Even if its just for informational purposes, I felt the need to pass it on.
I don't know what I would do if something rubbery came out of me. But if it is inside me then I want it OUT!

Lol! This is exactly the way that I feel. I was really scared at first, (and still am) but I want to be more healthy!

Can you let me know when you get your detox program and keep me posted on the progress. I find this interesting and considering buy myself some. Thanks

I definitely will! I plan on detoxing next month, and I will make sure to keep a journal and take pics of my hair growth afterward of course

Those of us in this discussion will never agree, but from my research from Western medicine and holistic medicine and Eastern medicine, the general consensus is that colon cleanse products or programs are unnecessary.

I agree, there will always be people on both sides of the spectrum, but after seeing the satisfaction rate of nearly a million people, I'm on the opposing side as you. It would worry me if I had done a detox and not had the results that I have now seen. I'd feel that it did not do what it was supposed to do, or I did not follow the instructions to the letter. There were this one guy on the site who said he skipped the tea a few times, and didn't really expel much, so he continued for 2 more months and followed instructions and was able to see much better results.

I agree, but if we are putting unnatural things into our bodies to begin with, breathing toxic air and such, it seems like our bodies would need the help. Kinda like using an antibiotic to get rid of strep throat imo. The product is made of herbs, which come from nature, naturally

I'm going to look more into this. I know there are those who don't believe in it, but I also know better than just to take the word of one person. If that stuff isn't build-up, wth is it!? :nono: And if our bodies clean that stuff out, then why are people having such incredible results and reports after using it, i.e. increased energy, better breath, sleeping better at night?
[/quote]

I've used this product. Let's just say it works and call it a day :look:

Lol

I was very surprised. It took 2 days to notice a change. I didn't have any parasites or worms. Hopefully mine shouldn't be that apparent, seeing as I don't eat meat.

Yeah, since you don't eat meat, that makes a HUGE difference. Thats where most of the parasites come from.

If your hubby is worried that he may have parasites, then he should try it, but you can buy any fiber supplement and get the same results. I use Yerba Prima Psyllium Husks from Whole Foods.

He is definitely of the mindset that he has parasites. He told me that when he was a kid, he used to see this thing under his skin near his abdomen that would pop in and out. He told his parents and they just brushed it off thinking he was just being a kid. He drinks a gallon of water a day, works out religiously, eats lots of fruit, and takes vitamins daily, but nothing is helping him. He's tired all of the time and has some of the other symptoms listed on the site.

We're going to try this stuff the first time, and then work on preventative maintenance from there-on. Something as simple as drinking a little bit of ACV before each meal will do wonders on the parasites in the meal you are about to ingest, but does nothing for what's already there. There are lots of other things I will be looking into as far as prevention goes after this is out of the way.

I want in on this convo!!!

Yes absolutely! You must put back in what you are taking out! Drinking water is KEY to health overall. I thought this one was herbal too? I'll have to look at the ingredient list again...

That's a really impressive list of things you have rid yourself of. Very inspirational :)

I did a 30 day detox program that included colon cleansing. Along with taking out the bad, I had to put a lot of healthy things in as far as nutrient dense foods and drinks. Wonderful! I'm so glad that you discovered this on your own and have had such great results. I'm looking forward to it. I didn't sleep well last night because I was so anxious lol. I realized last night though that I am going to have to consult with my doctor because I forgot one thing: I AM STILL BREASTFEEDING :wallbash: I keep forgetting that one little detail every time I get excited about some new product lol. I haven't taken any hair vitamins just because of that. Just my daily prenatal.

From the website:

Internal cleansing/detoxification is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women. A fetus or newborn baby should not be exposed to the toxins eliminated from the mother’s body while cleansing. The mother should wait until her baby is weaned completely.

Damn, oh well, guess that counts me out for at least 8 more months or so  I'm glad to hear that some of you ladies can and will benefit from this knowledge however. I will be sure to update a year from now when I'm finally able to do it lol. My husband's still going to go through with it of course :) I'll be supportive, but I don't wanna see what comes out :lachen:

Honestly - I am terrified to use this stuff.
I don't eat meat. - but - I do eat junk food occasionally.

I feel much better when I put mysefl on a veggie detox for a few weeks.

I have done the over the counter cleanse where you take a combination or pills for 7 days and I also have been to a clinic to do hydrotherapy or colon irrigation.

I decided to do the hydrotherapy after first increasing my water intake and fiber intake (apples) that didn't work, then I used the over the counter cleanse that was to uncomfortable, my last attempt to get back to feeling better was the hydrotherapy which is the best thing I could have done. It lasted 45-60 minutes and it was about $70 bucks. I paid an additional $40 for a lymphatic massage.

I would recommend doing your research and deciding what is best for you.

Some people have several sessions. One session did the trick for me. After my one session I felt better and I continued a healthy diet. The therapist also gave me allot of tips during the session that would help my colonic health. If your try it you will find it is not as uncomfortable or as expensive as people might think. My experience was really great and the therapist was wonderful.

This website has some great information http://www.balancedapproach.com.

Thanks for the info hazeleyez82. I'm more interested in the full body detox 3-month thing. The theory is that a short detox isn't enough to remove the decades worth of built-up toxins and that makes sense to me. I found this article that gives out some general info. Its not biased as to what brand of product you use, but it gives good info. on what the different herbs do. I'm so mad that I can't do this right now though!

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/atd13.htm

I really want to do a cleanse. I have eaten LOTS of junk food over the years and I always feel sluggish and tired. I have adult acne, and I have a pooch. My hair grows slowly.

I'm just scared I'll be in the bathroom a lot.

I'm going to look more into this. I know there are those who don't believe in it, but I also know better than just to take the word of one person. It's the Colonix fiber. Psyllium is a bulking agent, and if left in a glass it gets all gelatinous and rubbery and takes the shape of the container it is in, either a glass or our bowels. When you drink the tea, you pass feces and psyllium that has formed to your intestines.

I tried the Colonix system and it did nothing for me. Everyone's different so even though it supposedly worked for millions of other people it may not work for the other millions of people that tried it. I thought the most expensive and talked about cleansers were the best, but after wasting hundreds of dollars on various systems I found one at Whole Foods for $20 that did the trick.

Please remember, that while these cleansers are removing the bad stuff from your system, they're also removing the good stuff. After you finish a cleanse, start taking a probiotic to replenish the good bacteria that help to break down meats, dairy, and aid in the prevention of yeast infections. Some systems come with a probiotic, but most don't.

It lasted 45-60 minutes and it was about $70 bucks. I paid an additional $40 for a lymphatic massage.

I wanted to add I did exactly the same thing last year.
Actually, a whole pile of us on the board did...
There's a thread in the Health and Fitness forum.

I already did, and do eat a lot of fibre... plus i was drinking a lot of water at the time. Nothing was working.
After my hydrocolonic, I actually stopped eating meat. ALL MEAT..
that did it for me. (i'm still vegetarian)

This year, i'm finding that apples and water keep me clean as a whistle. lololol.

(eating my second one of the day as I type, lol)

whoohooo....just finished my cleanse today!! I did the www.blessedherbs.com Colon cleanse. It was great! Those testimonials are true.....good grief....I didn't know all that garbage was inside me.:lachen:

Well...its not anymore!! Now off to some healthier, cleaner eating!

I know right...i'm waiting to get my preggo test and shoot if i am, i won't be able to do this, this summer.

I really want to do a cleanse. I have eaten LOTS of junk food over the years and I always feel sluggish and tired. I have adult acne, and I have a pooch. My hair grows slowly.

I'm just scared I'll be in the bathroom a lot.

like the others have stated research is the key
If your not busy over the weekends I say try it on a friday night....you have up until sunday if you do a 1 day cleanse...and if you need more than that one cleanse I say do more research for more cleansing time but for me it wasn't that bad for 2 weeks. It was as if I just had to go once maybe(lightly) twice daily w/ no complications.

Death Begins in the Colon

I highly recommend hydrotherapy (colonics). Years ago, when I first started taking a combination form of colon cleansing herbs with enemas, they didn’t work. I took a 30 day supply within 14 days and nothing happened. My friends were surprised! They told me my colon was really clogged, because those same herbs got them moving so fast that they almost didn’t make it to the bathroom.

I was referred to a colon hydrotherapy center. I told the hydrotherapist, Debra, that I wanted my entire colon cleaned out. I went two or three times a week for the entire month of November (which consisted of ten sessions). We were shocked at the stuff that came out of my system--but no worms. My hydrotherapist couldn’t believe that someone so young like me could have so much stuff come out of my system, even though I looked fine on the outside.

Back then I had no idea that I was doing the best thing for my body. My acne cleared up thoroughly, so there was no need for me to see a dermatologist again. Debra told me if I had not gotten into herbs and colonics, I wouldn’t have lived beyond the 80s. She told me that keeping the colon unclogged can prevent serious health problems. This statement definitely caught my attention.

I continued to do more research. Then I was told it would be best to next clean the kidneys, liver, and blood--which I did. I thought that was all that was needed. A few years later, I discovered painful benign tumors under each armpit. My friend, Janet, told me I needed to clean my lymph glands with herbs for 90 days--which I did—even though the herbs dissolved them in two weeks.

Now I’m working on other things for preventive measures, because I found out that serious health problems such as cancer, kidney failure, stroke, congestive heart failure, liver failure, diabetes, Alzheimer's, fibroids, etc., can be prevented by keeping the colon unclogged, eating organic foods, taking specific herbs and following a strict regimen. I’ve dumbfounded hospital doctors and nurses when I cleared up my diagnoses.

I personally know four individuals who were given their death sentences by their doctors (six months to live), and they beat their cancers. They each cleaned out their colon, liver, kidneys, blood, etc., and they have been cancer free for years/decades. However, none of them took colonics because of the expense involved. They just took the colon cleansing herbs. I recommend colonics and colon cleansing herbs simultaneously. Colon cleansing herbs, apples and drinking water is not enough. Trust me--I know what I’m talking about, because I’ve already been there.

Very few of my former coworkers believed me. One said: "You look healthier." Another said: "Do you have makeup on?" Another one said: “I believe you, because my father is 80 pounds and dying from colon cancer right now.”

I have relatives who are suffering right now (and some have died), because they didn’t listen back in the day when I first started this regimen because I was too young to know what I was talking about--even though I told them repeatedly. Now they know their days are numbered, because they’re about to “kiss death.”

I’ve had my colon thoroughly cleansed several times through hydrotherapy. If everyone did this, this would knock hospitals and doctors out of business and they know it, too; that’s why some of these holistic hospitals treating cancer patients have been closed down by medical doctors because patients were getting well. “It’s all about the money,” as Kevin Trudeau states.

I’ve been into holistic health since 1982. However, I still see my medical doctor twice a year.

I am a wellness fanatic myself. I've tried a cleanser called Ultimate Cleanse which was recommended from this book I read called Natural Remedies. It is in pill form. The cleanse was very effective, but I wasn't consistent on it. Also, the stuff that came out was shocking. People were commenting on how my skin glowed. I had more energy and less moodiness too. It didn't bring me any side effects either. I am going to start up again real soon though.

Unlike the Dr. Natura, I just can't bring myself to drink that nasty fiber stuff! Even though I bought it twice in my life. I gave the first one away because I just couldn't do it. The second one is still sitting in my cupboard. I'm still trying to find out what to do with it. You say, why did I buy it twice if I couldn't hang, well, I thought the second time was a charm. I thought that I could fancy it up a bit and acquire my taste buds to it. People say it tastes like bananas, yuck not to me. I tried to put it in smoothies, but I can't get around that taste. If only the fiber would come in pill form, that would be better. Also, the side effects of headaches is a bummer too. Ugh!

I second that emotion! Kevin Trudeau is the bomb! I am now trying to get my mom on the wellness bandwagon. She has also slacked off the bad foods and other bad stuff. It's a slow process, but at least she is trying. I also have my cat on the healthy food regime. lol! His coat is shinier!

I didn't taste bananas either. They're glamorizing it. I mixed the powder with orange juice and tasted nothing but the orange juice. It made it taste sweeter, but that's about it. :look:
