hi ladies,

im done stretching my hair is not having it anymore and im planning on self relaxing in a few days. the only kind of lye relaxer i could find here was motions regular if you have self relaxed with this brand before id love some tips and advice im very nervous but pretty confident. thanks in advance

Do you usually use motions, or have you used it before? :perplexed

If you hair isn't very resistant, try adding oil/conditioner/saa to the relaxer. It'll give you a little extra time to apply and smooth, and it'll give your hair more softness and shine afterwards.

ive never used motions my normal relaxer is affirm lye im just nervous about over processing so im going to add a half a cup of olive oil.

of course the search feature isnt working when i need it the most i googled motions and lhcf and all of the results that showed said that it left them under processed so now im kind of wondering if the oil would be counter productive.

I just don't really like the relaxer. It's the only relaxer that burned me when applied by myself. It also left my hair weaker than other relaxers.

I suppose there are some people who do use it successfully. I don't want to discourage you...

I think a whole half of a cup is too much! I'd do a tablespoon, that shouldn't be enough to really weaken the relaxer too much, but it'll give you a few extra mins.

I loved how it left my hair (texlaxed) but it burned the mess out of my scalp....and I used the mild.:ohwell:
I never added anything to it. Also........don't forget to use the Silk Moisturizing Protein before neutralizing.

I'm trying Mizani Butter Blends and hoping it's more gentle on my scalp.:look:

Good Luck. :)

oh no i dont have that moisturizer will i be ok without it?

Yeah....but use some type of mild protein. Look on the relaxer container....I'm sure it states using the protein after rinsing for 5 minutes.

Run to the store and get a $1.99 pack of Aphogee 2min reconstructor. But "You Should" do the protein treatment before neutralizing. That's an important step.
It kept my hair very strong and silky. I grew my hair to brastrap using Motions. :yep:

OK.....I just looked under my sink to see if I still had some conditioner left..I do. I still use this every other week.

It's called..."Motions Oil Moisturizer Deep Penetrating Silk Protein Conditioner"

And yes.....you apply the protein after rinsing out the relaxer and before neutralizing.
:)

i have some ors replenish pak here would that work as a protien?

i dont have a lot to work with i thought i could stretch the whole entire time i was here but my hair isnt feeling it. and i had to go on a mission all over bern the biggest city near me to find relaxer. i looked online no luck i asked bf to ask his friends no luck sooo poor swissy bf had to translate swiss german for me while i asked strangers who looked like they had hair like mine where i could find a store for hair like ours and bf had to find the most pc swiss german way to say this. after a few crazy looks a woman who was shopping with her husband and daughter took pity on my soul and guided me all the way to the ethic beauty supply i wanted to give her a huge hug but that would have probably freaked her out.

when we started out looking bf was convinced we could ask a white person even though i was totally against it. so he asked an older lady that worked in the cosmetics department of a big department store why did she lead us straight over to the john freida brilliant brunette did i ever give him a look but he was very helpful.

Yeah, the pack is great for a pre neutralizing conditioner.

Poor girl, I don't know what I'd do without a BSS! I'm going to stop complaining just because mine is 10 blocks away.

I agree with Neith.....make it work girl.
I feel for you not having a bss near. Be sure to condition after neutralizing as well.

motions left me very underprocessed but i have coarse resistant hair. plenty of women on the site said it left their hair underprocessed too.

so i did a strand test and im kind of on the fence leaning towards not using it at all. it didnt seem to do much with my new growth at all i did quite a few of them and even left one strand in the jar with the relaxer for the maximum alloted amount of time and they were still pretty curly. i haven't really found many glowing reviews on it either i want to wait until the search feature is working again though so i can get more information.

im kind of chickening out i think about if something were to happen to my hair i would die of heartache (it sounds silly to write but yall know)i just have to make it until the 25th of august and them im back to the states.

i wish i could find some butter blends here i would have used it yesterday my hair dresser used it on me once and i was in love.

I know you probably don't wanna wait another week or so...but I bought my Mizani from
http://paynesbeautysupply-salon.stores.yahoo.net/

I guess I'm the odd man out. I don't like my hair bone straight. So the loosening of the texture with Motions was perfect for me. I don't call it under processed.......I call it texturized.

Girl.....I hope something works out for you. :yep:

Maybe you can find someone to braid it for you till you return? I wouldn't chance it if your strand test shows underprocessing...

If you can wait I would suggest it. Motions left my hair underprocessed and my hair is not thick at all.

Yeah . . . I had some very bad experiences with this relaxer. But you may do ok. I've relaxed my own hair for 10 years and the only time my hair came out was with this relaxer. My hair was coming out by the handfull.

sooo next time i relaxer, rinse and then use a protein condiitoner? hmm that is new. and then neutralize for 5 minutes with no manipulation and myhair should become stronger?

It depends on which relaxer you're using. Not all are the same. Some don't require the protein conditioner step.

Now the 5 minutes of neutralizing is personal. Some people do it longer.

I personally feel the pro-con step is what kept my hair strong and silky.

i usually use ORS Professional Creme Relaxer, but i want to try Butter Blends or Nairobi Relaxer. If I use these one of the two would that need a protein treatment before the neutralizing shampoo? I plan on leaving it on longer i just read 5 minutes.

Motions was the reason I was forced to go natural years ago. Never again. There are much better lye relaxers around. Mizani, Elasta QP, ORS, Design Essentials, Affirm, etc.

This was my experience exactly! :ohwell: Major setback. :wallbash:

I don't know about Nairobi....but Butter Blends has a protein conditioner called ' Perphecting Creme'. You use this before neutralizing and leave it on for 3-5 minutes. :yep:

ruh roh i think the motions is going in the trash its a waste of a little money but its not worth the risk.

i had a good time rollersetting yesterday i was really happy i got my product balance just right and it came out just right so i think i just might make it on this stretch thank you ladies for all of your advice :)
