I'm just curious. I know silk is good for our hair and how it can help during the relaxing process but is it safe to put it in the relaxer or should it just go on the hair?

Someone does this - Sareca, maybe? Try a search... :yep:

I do too and it works fine. It adds strength and protection to my hair as it's being relaxed. It is recommended to add some type of protein to a relaxer actually. Some people use pure protien from http://www.styleone.com/store.html.

Funny you posted this I just tried it yesterday and I feel like my relaxer didn't take as well.

Hmmm, I'm sorry to hear this but you might have used a little too much. I only used a cap full and think that I might have to add an additional cap full to my next relaxer. I didn't really want bone straight hair but that's what I ended up with. So next time I will add an additional cap for more texture to be left in my fine hair.

b/c SAA is a protein it reinforces the bonds in your hair that give it its' texture. There was a thread actually recommending it for texlaxers b/c it prevents the relaxer from getting your hair bone straight even if you leave it on for the full processing time.

If you add just a smidge though - you should still be able to get pretty straight while strengthening your hair. If it bothers you, maybe you can add a little to your after relaxer DC instead.

I didn't know it helped out with maintaing texture while relaxing. Do you use lye or no lye relaxer?

Thanks for the info, as long as I had SAA I didn't know it could do this.

Yes it does and I use lye relaxers because they are gentler on my hair. No lye relaxers really strip my hair of moisture and leave quite dull and lifeless, so I don't use it anymore:nono:.
