Does anyone have certain areas that just appear weak and do not thrive well in certain parts of your head? Areas that never reach their potential in length in comparison to other areas?

What do you attribute this to?

What Are You Doing About It?

Is what you are doing working?

How long has it taken to get results?

The left side of my head is thinner and weaker then the right side
What do you attribute this to?
I guess it needs more protein than the right side.
What Are You Doing About It?
Adding more protein conditioner to the left side
Is what you are doing working?
yes I've noticed less breakage
How long has it taken to get results?
instant results

I notice that the front of my hair sheds alot when I comb it. I need more protein internally and I put garlic oil in the areas starting this week and plan to take garlic pills too. I hope it works until I get enough money to see a trichologist.

The nape area used to be a HUGE problem for me. I would feel growth, relax, and it would never get longer than my fingertip. This went on for years!!!

What do you attribute this to?

I was not applying enough conditioner to this area, and I never used to moisturize and seal this area for some reason.:perplexed

What Are You Doing About It?

I apply extra conditioner and moisturizers to this area. I also take care of this area first when moisturizing and conditioning.

Is what you are doing working?

Yes

One relaxer stretch (8-10 weeks)

What do you attribute this to? 21 + years of chemical damage. Relaxers, permanent colour etc

What Are You Doing About It? I stopped all chemical use in April 2007. Use natural carrier & essential oil therapy. Healthy hair practises & scalp massage.

Is what you are doing working? Definitely

How long has it taken to get results?
I've been on this journey for about 18 months. I expect that my scalp will be healed within the next 3-4 years.

Yes. It's my crown. I finally got the perimeter of my hair to thrive then my crown started acting up... worse than it usually does. :wallbash:

What do you attribute this to?
Stretching unsuccessfully. It's a different texture and very coarse in that area and my inability to figure out what it needs on a consistent basis, and I've wondered if it's hormonal because my scalp is healthy.

What Are You Doing About It?
I am babying it and alternating protein and moisture, making sure that it's well moisturized, that I put no undue stress on it, and that I don't manipulate it much @ 4+ weeks post.

Is what you are doing working?
So far so good.

How long has it taken to get results?
I see a little bit of progress and it's been about two months. I'll have to wait a bit longer to see if it's working.

Yeah, I would say my sides, and the very front of my hair are not thriving as much as the rest of my hair.

Like someone else mentioned, deep conditioning this area really helps!! I baby that area, and comb it very carefully!

What do you attribute this to? Not enough moisture.

What Are You Doing About It? Adding extra moisturizer, leave-in and oils to those areas

Is what you are doing working? Yes. A small area at the top of my head was 1 inch in length but now it's 4 inches long.

How long has it taken to get results? 8 months.

Does anyone have certain areas that just appear weak and do not thrive well in certain parts of your head? Areas that never reach their potential in length in comparison to other areas? Yes. I have two areas, both my sides

What do you attribute this to?One side, overprocessing, the other side was burned off by the pressing comb, and then overprocessed when relaxed

What Are You Doing About It? trying to keep it moist. and most importantly not relaxing it for about 6 months. and massages, internal health is important too.

Is what you are doing working?its too soon to tell but I believe they will grow back. my nape as completely broken off and I didnt relax it for almost a year and it was has grown back nicely

How long has it taken to get results? well with my nape it took about 6 months to see growth but I didnt relax it for a year.

My area is the dead center/crown of my head.

What do you attribute this to? This is my 4qvz hair.

What Are You Doing About It? Right now I'm weaving so out of site, out of mind. In the future. I will be stepping up my moisture & protein game.

Is what you are doing working? n/a

How long has it taken to get results? Can't say that I have results yet. When I got my current weave & started on my personal weave challenge, I was working on the moisture/protein level & it seemed to be helping a little but I hadn't been consistently working on it long enuf 2 tell.

My front (bang) area and crown. It's ridiculous.

I think it's from heat/relaxing just those areas. My scalp is super sensitive and I wind up scratching my head after the relaxer, thus stressing the already damaged area. I keep fixing the problem temporarily and then forget and resume my poor behaviors. I also used too much heat in my bang area. I have a fivehead so I always wear bangs. However, when the hair is in its sensitive state I need to reduce the amount.

Over the summer, I started getting in touch with my fivehead and wearing headbands to significantly reduce the amount of heat to the problem areas. Right now, I am still babying the area, again. I will relax the sides and the back when necessary but skip the top area of course being careful not to overlap. I am also investing in Freetress snap on topper with bangs to really give the area a rest and give me my bangs back!

Judging from last time, it will take about six to eight months.

What do you attribute this to? I’m not positive, but I think it’s the texture. At the back of my head between my nape and crown, my texture is extremely tight (like 4c-d) while the rest of my hair is 4b with a little 4a. This area breaks easily, and does not hold on to moisture well. I have always had a problem with this area. Once I get it to growing, without notice or any signs it breaks off again!

What Are You Doing About It? I pay close attention to this area, always checking it to make sure it’s okay. I message this area and pamper it more then other areas on my head.

Is what you are doing working? Ummm, kind of, it appears fine for a while and then all of a sudden it breaks again. I’m starting to believe that this is my stress point, and this maybe something I will have to live with.

How long has it taken to get results? Results sometimes happen quickly, just as quickly as the damage. This area does grow fast, but it also breaks fast.

For me, the problem area is the very middle of the back of my head and my nape area below the ears. It is the weak areas of my whole head and I attribute it to:

1. Being a different texture. The finest strands are there, like superfine and the area just "feels" sensitive most of the time.
2. I am focusing on those areas now, protein, moisture, gentle handling and avoiding any knots from my scarves lying on those areas.
3. I wonder if those areas get rinsed as well as the other areas and so I will be concentrating extra rinsing in those areas.
4. Poor circulation....gentle massaging every other day.
5. Those areas seem to need regular dusting to avoid snagging and tangling so I will have to be more scrupulous about that.
6. I have just figured out what I THINK are the problems, so I will let you know in a couple of months if any thing has changed.
