Hi girls!
I have recently stumbled onto BKT treatments, and I love it! I am a 4a natural, and I usually press my hair every two weeks, without a problem. I was wondering if there were anyone on this board that is natural and do BKT treatments once a month or more.
I would really like to do the BKT treatments once a month, because I like the lightness that the BKT gives me. When I press my hair with a hotcomb, I can get it just as straight, but it doesn't lay down as flat as when I do the BKT treatments, and I have to wear my hair up most of the time because it doesn't swing...with the treatment my hair actually swings, and I really like that. Also there's no reversion! Even if I were to press my hair with a hotcomb without any product, it would come out too light and airy, and it still wouldn't lay down as flat or have that natural swing.
Now, my concern is that in order for the BKT treatment to be successful, you must flat iron the hair at 450 degrees, and pass the flat iron on each section 5 - 7 times, and I don't want to do this so much that I end up ruining my hair in the long run.
So, if you do the treatment at least once a month:
1. How has you hair held up, and do you have any damage?
2. Do you flat iron your hair at a lower temp and get the same results?
Thank you for your time!

it. I don't know of any damage because of the high temperature. And because I do, do BKT once a month, I don't know how much of it wears off. If any. The BKT is suppose to protect the hair, so that the high temperature should not cause damage. From what I have read (and I have read ALOT), the more damaged your hair, the better. I do wash/DC 3x a week. I also make sure my protein/moisture balance is on track as well. I find that I am retaining length, and not losing the hair that I use to, prior to doing BKT. I do only straigthen when I do my BKT. And in order to get the results, use must use high heat to bake the treatment on. But for regular flatironing after BKT, just use a lower temperature and heat protectant, to protect the hair further. Using good hair techinques and products that your hair
make having BKT the best it can be. I am 100% natural. HTH
