I'm just about 16 weeks post and have major rootage going on. Just thought I'd share my drying technique at this stage. As I near my texlax due date, my hair gets really hard to handle on wash day. I am due for a texlax at the end of November.

Basically, after washing and conditioning, I apply NTM leave in conditioner, and a dolop of CHI silk infusion. Starting at the bottom, I take sections, comb thru gently, and blowdry straight, followed by a flat iron at the roots only. I continue with the sections until my whole head is done... and I end it all with a drop or two of NTM serum for shine and to keep the flyaways at bay. To preserve the blowout, I set my hair in two big rollers, and scarfe.

I'VE POSTED detailed pics with explanations in my album. ENJOY!

Wow, it looks great. I would never guess you were 16 weeks post. Great job!

You have skills with that brush and that dryer. I can only wish. Your hair looks pretty.

WOW. You did a great job! I'm:love:your hair!
I wish I knew how to work a blow dryer and a brush.
Do you lose a lot of hair from this method?

NTM= Neutrogena Triple Moisture. They make a yummy-smelling shampoo, conditioner, DC, serum and leave-in cream.

Thanks Angie. Yes, I hate to even think about it, but I do lose hair no matter what I do. I sneeze and I lose hair. However, its mostly shed hair. Definitely some breakage, but nothing crazy.

Lately I've been shedding like a beast. Gotta check my thyroid again....

beautiful!!!! do you get your curl at the ends with the blowdryer while you're drying or the flat iron? it looks like you flat iron each section right after you blowdry that section....

Wow looks great. I wish I could blow dry my hair that straight. What kind of brush do you use to blow dry?

What is NTM?

Neutrogena Triple Moisture. Fantastic line. :lick:The mask is amazing.

Hey thanks Beautiful! I alternate between two brushes. One is a nylon bristle dollar store thing I got 15 years ago. The other is a boar bristle brush I picked up at CVS. Pic below.

Thanks Duff! I bump each section with the brush and dryer and then leave the brush in the ends for 5 seconds before I remove it so it can 'set'.
Yes, you are correct, I flat iron the roots of each section as I move along. I find that the heat and moisture from the dryer allows me that window to successfully flat iron quickly with one pass.

wow how long did that take you?
your hair looks gorgeous!!

Thanks Sharifeh :). It takes me 45 min to an hour from application of product to end scarfing, depending how much post I am. When I am newly texlaxed, I can zip thru in about 35 mins.

I need to learn how to blow dry like you do! You dont even need to pass through it with a flat iron, it's gorgeous.

I'd kill to be able to blowdry my hair like that-but, it feels like I'm ripping my hair out and making split ends every time I do it :ohwell: . Your roots already look barely wavy, why do you texlax? Also What kind of dryer do you use?

Thanks OSWF! Well at 16 weeks, I have to do something about my newgrowth. Without the flatiron, I have "helmut head" going on.

Silky and beautiful!

Hey KBLC... well, I do suffer splits... but I try not to keep the heat directly on the hair shaft at any point for longer than a second. Also, I use a heat protectant, and then some on my ends.

I texlax because its easier to manage my hair. I have different textures going on. My nape is fairly straight, probably 2 or 3a... and then it graduates in kink as it moves towards my forehead. My bangs are straight up 4C, no doubt..

ETA: Its a SOLIA Thermal Ionic Professional Dryer
