2012 HYH Challenge Reveal (Jan 1st - June 30th)

Well it's that time again! Time to reveal the fruits of your labor! Since I'm at a conference I'll keep it short and sweet. Here is a link to the actual challenge:

Sorry Ladies I cut my hair during my HYH challenge. I also braided it today. I have a pic that I took today of my new growth not much for a year but I am going to be growing this hair for the next 2 years before cutting

I'm still stuck in apl purgatory. I had some of my layers cut out in a rather unfortunate haircut that I'm growing out now. My hair is in braids so I don't have length pics with loose hair.

I do have pics of my braids from late last year until now...7 months.

These mini braids are from Nov. 27, 2012 (cowashed, damp I think)

Today- Jun. 30, 2012 (dry and I had perm rods in so they're sticking up)

ETA: tried to take a better pic on damp hair.

From the pictures, you can't really tell but I think I am between the 7 and 8. I'll just say I am at 7.5 because my shirt is all wonky on me compared to my January pic.

Ok, so here is the worst reveal in the bunch. My hair is a little shorter than when I started. Must of had some issues I was not aware of. In spite of the lackluster growth, I think my hair is healthier than when I started the journey, so I am going to carry on. I really want an line bob with a bang, I want it to be APL in the back, and BSL in the front.

ETA: I think I just noticed that my one piece of hair is as thick as the whole back was before, it might just be wishful thinking, but I hope it is true.

Initially I wore 2 strand twists for a week, and then would do a twist out on the weekend. For the last 2months...I have been doing flat twist updos and keeping them for 2 weeks at a time. This helps to cut down on the amount of manipulation, and keeps my ends hidden. HTH!

My ends are much fuller now and I even got a little growth. I did lose about an inch and a half due to a much needed trim.. But all in all this was a great run!

Here are my reveal pics...I got a trim, so while I claimed APL earlier in the month, I'm back to being above it. But my ends look much better now

I never truly understood what ladies meant when they said they gained thickness before length, but I get it now I was a bit disappointed I didn't gain more length, but then I looked at pics & felt like "ok, I see progress here!" The ponytail difference was a big surprise

LilMissSunshine It's really amazing to actually see that kind of progress in thickness in less than a year, you got really good growth! I can only hope that's the stage my hair is going through right now. It's grown some, but now I just want more thickness. Trust me having thickness makes the length all that more enjoyable.
