Great progress! Your hair is so thick! Keep up the good work!

Congrats! Great Progress...Looks so nice & soft....

Happy Hair Growing!

Your hair looks sssoooooo soft and fluffy!
Question, do you twist your hair on dry hair and
do you use shea butter, gel etc.for your twists?

love love love your progress, congratulations to you!!!

Awesome progress! I love the length of your current twists! Can't wait until I can do mine at that length. Can you tell me more about how you do them (for future reference) such as:

1. Did you do anything to stretch the hair first?
2. What product(s) did you use?
3. How long will they last?
4. What's your current length?

Just trying to give myself a guide as to when I can do mine where they'll actually hang to my shoulders. I'm APL stretched but if I tried twists now, they would look like your summer 09 twists.

Your twists are beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

Your hair is gorgeous! What great progress.....I gasped when I saw the 1st pic....your puff is delish!

Oohwee, that 2nd picture of your twists is so gorgeous, you made me want to rush to the bathroom and do a set. I'm not going to :look: but yours are just fabulous!

beautiful twists! i'm jealous of how well your bangs have grown, I still have a permanent bang

^^I noticed the same thing about her bangs; mine are the shortest part of my hair :ohwell:

OP- your hair is GORGEOUS! So full and healthy looking....I remember yours was one of the first heads of hair I noticed when I came to the board.

I'd also like know what you do to stretch your hair.... *notepad & pen ready*

Very pretty. Great progress! I love the twists.

Very pretty -- what is your reggie? You got excellent growth.

Hi all! Thanks for the nice responses!

WARNING, LONG POST

Some stats about my hair:

Natural haired 4b

I wear my hair in twists ALL THE TIME. I have worn my hair in twists consecutively since summer 2009. Prior to that, i was in braid extensions for about 14 months. I think i've worn my hair in an 'out' style like once my entire hair journey.

History:
My last perm was Feb. 2008. I transitioned by wearing my hair in a busted, picked out bob until my new growth was long enough to braid. In May 2008, i had my mom bc my relaxed ends. I then wore braid extensions until about July 2009. After this, i wore twists non-stop. My summer 2009 before pics were the first time i'd twisted my hair (thats probably why they look a bit wonky) and i've been wearing twists ever since.

General regimen:
I wash my hair in its loose, untwisted state only every few months (since i wear twists for weeks at a time, sometimes retwisting my whole head twist by twist without taking them all down at once). After i take out my twists and detangle my hair, i slather on a cheapie conditioner (aussie moist/cholesterol) and let it sit overnight. I then wash my hair using either creme of nature detangling/conditioning shampoo or elasta qp creme conditioning poo, i have tried others but always come back to these two. I deep condition again after shampooing using aussie moist or cholesterol, and most recently, creme of nature argan oil deep treatment packet (this stuff is awesome and is now a new fave). After rinsing the condish out, i spray my wet hair with infusium 23 leave-in.

DOING THE ACTUAL TWISTS: I now twist my hair on completely dry, stretched natural hair (in the past i did them on wet hair). The hair is stretched using 4 big twists. I use the grab and go method and i use NOTHING, NO PRODUCT while i'm twisting. I hate the way shea butter and pretty much any grease/creme /pomade makes my hair feel and i find that the less product i use the better my hair feels and looks. My staple product is basically a light oil, like jojoba, and i don't even put this on my hair while i'm twisting (only for daily maintenance). The only thing that is left on my hair while i'm twisting is the watery infusium 23 leave-in that has already absorbed into my strands since i twist on completely dry hair.

TWIST UPKEEP: WHILE I'M IN TWISTS, i DO rinse and/or wash my hair every 2-3 weeks. If i am just rinsing the twists, i use the ball of my fingers loosen up any dirt on my scalp and let it rinse out with the force of the water. If i am shampooing my twists, i dilute the shampoo and work it into my scalp and let it rinse off my twists. After this, i put jojoba oil on my sopping wet hair and let it air dry. This instantly refreshes my scalp and twists.

Daily maintenance: Every morning, i spritz my twists with water and apply 3-4 drops of jojoba oil. At night i pin the twists down and throw on a pink du rag.

Miscellaneous:
I don't like the way twists look when they are freshly done. I prefer my twists to look a bit rough and raggedy...the good thing about this is that the longer the twists are left in the better they look.

Twists are my favorite hairstyle of all time, i will never get tired of them and the style allows me to not manipulate my hair for long periods of time, which i think has kept my hair healthy and able to retain length.

I never use heat on my hair thus i have not seen my hair straight since i've been natural, and still have no desire to.

I recently CUT my hair (unfortunate story) and i think i've impromptu/informally trimmed or dusted about 3 other times since i've been natural.

It takes me around 9-10 hours to twist my whole head(i take breaks though). I guess these can be called mini twists, though i've seen some done much smaller and would like to try and twist even smaller one day.

I spot twist the front around the side part every so often to keep the entire style looking 'together'.

Hope this helps!

 Beautiful. I have always loved that siggy pic! Now I equally love the pics of your twists. Absolutely gaw-jus!

Looks good and it looks super healthy--the care you've shown your hair is definitely apparent!
