It's me again with another question about gels!

How many of you use do not buy "hair" gels and use aloe vera gel or vitamin e gels instead? Do you find them to work just as well as gels in regards to hold, curl defintion, etc? Do they stay soft unlike most regular gels?

I'm thinking of trying both of these but am curious to know some opinions first.

Im curious about the vitamin E gel as well. I may buy and try it anyways. If it doesnt work on my hair it could always work for my skin.

I saw the vitamin E gel in walmart today right next to the aloe vera....I didn't purchase it though...I'm curious about its results as well..

Well, I use both Aloe Vera and Vitamin E gels by FOTE. Both give a nice, soft hold and great curl definition. They are basically the same to me, except the Vitamin E gel is more water based than the Aloe Vera.

The Aloe Vera works better on my hair though, but I keep both on hand. I often mix the two together...no specific reason : )

I haven't used "other gels" in years, but I do know that the Aloe Vera and Vitamin gels don't flake and they don't get hard either.

Alcohol free and inexpensive too...

I'm going to get the FOTE Aloe Vera gel. I'm currently testing out Suave's Aloe Vera Frizz gel. It has a polymer in it but it's alcohol free, doesn't flake, and it has a soft hold, no crunch. So far it gets a .

I don't use gels anymore either. I just bought a bottle of 100% Aloe Vera, but I haven't used it yet.

I've used each of these products on my hair. I think they work great (always leave my hair nice and soft). My 13 y/o nephew also uses these on his hair (makes his curly hair extra soft and shiny).

I haven't been able to find the vitamin E gel, but I use FOTE aloe to aid in styling my natural hair. I'll combine it with shea butter or a shea butter pomade/mix and together they provide a healthy hold and help smooth and slick back hair.

Hmm...I bet that is a very nice smooth hold. I'll have to tell my friend about that mix. She uses both shea butter and aloe vera gel. Good tip!

Thanks everyone for the opinions! I plan on buying the big bottle of aloe vera gel and a bottle of the vitamin e gel as well. I think these will be healthier for my hair than regular hair gels. I actually found a small bottle of fote aloe vera gel that I bought last year. I tested it out last night and this morning and it seems to work well with a "soft" hold...just what I'm after!

I like the idea of the shea butter/aloe mix....I will have to try that, too.

The thing I like most about the FOTE aloe gel is it does not flake or leave your hair hard...it is soft an it great for smoothing a ponytail style..i will only use aloe vera gel from now on..it is truly the best and least harmful

I always see Vitamin E gel, but I never touched it for fear that it would not be good for daily use or cause some sort of problem, let me know how that Vitamin E gel woks out for you Hairlove, Im VERY interested in it!

Aww...don't feel bad...you didn't know! I didn't find out about it until this year while looking at other natural hair albums. It's not like the stuff is in the hair aisle. It's with the lotion or sunblock aisle.
