alterna products.. $150 for conditioner?.

i was looking at the advertisements for Alterna products. They make products with white truffles and caviar.

i saw a conditioner (lite) for $150 and another for $160.00

does anyone believe this is worth paying for?

Before I even read the thread...I figured the OP must be talking about the Alterna condish with the caviar in it. I'd heard about it, but didn't know it cost a whopping $150. I've seen it on Ebay, and I don't remember it costing so much...

ETA: No, I don't believe its worth it. You're paying for the brand name and the ingredients, not necessarily a result. It may not even "work" on our hair. I'd find out the ingredients and make my own before I pay anyone anything near $150 for some condish. Hell, I wouldn't even pay that for someone to do a deep condish trx on my hair...I'm a true DIY'er...I've heard of women paying upwards of $500 for these condish trx at salons, with special ingredients, but to me its ludicrous.

not unless your hair is going to grow 5 inches everytime you use it . I'm sure its a great conditioner but to be honest if you have to ask if its worth it means that spending 150 on a product isnt worth it for you, its too pricey. Dont get it, there are other things you could invest in that would give you a great return, like a steamer. But a product? naw

With the collective knowledge found her at LHCF I say no! It is not worth the price. I must say that I never heard of this product so I'm being bias but you will definitely come out cheaper from just searching the Hair forum.

Umm Ulta has a bag of about 6 Alterna samples including this one for $6, but I didn't buy because I don't care if it turns my hair into liquid gold I can't drop that kind of money on a bottle of conditioner.

it's the "beautysak.com" ad that's a banner on the forum. the "Science of 10" lite shampoo is $150. the "Science of 10" lite conditioner is $160.00...

and yes, there should be a hot guy to massage that conditioner on my scalp. ah, forget the conditioner, i'll take the hot guy.

the only truffles I;m paying that amt for will be the ones on my plate. My hair does not need truffles it needs moisture, protein and ceramides. Honestly these companies must think we stoopid....

Of course our hair needs truffles (wink,wink). We just don't know it yet. Alterna will take care of that, though. The next thing we know, Alterna will have a campaign telling us about the value of truffles on our hair. I can just hear it now: truffles are rich in nutrients that provide the hair with superb moisture, incredible strength, and glorious shine. WHATEVER!

I haven't tried the AlternaTruffle, but they do have some awesome conditioners. I do have a a tube of Philip B White Truffle Nourishing & Conditioning Cream, but I haven't tried it yet.

Yes: I have the White Truffles Luxury Conditioner Private Reserve. I Paid about $25.00 for 10.1 fl. (which I think is comparable to any other product I've Purchasederplexed).

I haven't used it yet. But I probably would not spend $150.00 for a Liter.erplexed

No, i can't even imagine buying that even if i had won the lottery. it's just the principle of it.

it's like when "jordache" was a big deal in the early eighties. everyone had to have a pair of jeans that were too tight - and possibly caused a lot of yeast infections.

and just because they had the word "jordache" on them, folks were paying a hefty sum for them. Some chick paid about $250.00 for hers, where i could have gone to walmart and got a pair that was 2 sizes too small "long" and got away with the same look.

Except, i was about 10 sizes too big at the time.

Haha, I tried the white truffles Alterna back in the day years ago...I did not pay $150 for it but did pay about $75 for a shampoo and conditioner set off of Ebay.

Not worth it...nothing too special about it at all, then again I was too afraid to use regularly because of the cost, so couldn't see the benefits of using it over time. Wasn't worth it to try because I knew I couldn't afford the up keep of using it.

Honestly, That's about all I've ever paid for Alterna (and I've only purchased their Conditioners). I have about 10oz of Science of 10, The Caviar, Something Intense Moisture, Hemp Hydrate & Hemp Repair (admittedly those 2 were 'cheaper' $10.00-$12.00 and 'less' if you find it at Marshalls or TJ Maxx).

I've Never Purchased any of the Shampoos.

Honestly, Overall, I Like the Product. But Again, I would probably not invest in Liters, because I like to sample a Variety of Various Conditioners and curently do not consider it as a Staple, just something in the list of things to 'try'.
