Love yourself first!
I have been using the Dabur amla and vatika oils for about two weeks now. Last night I did a pre poo with the Amla oil. My hair was drenched. I covered my hair with a baggie and let it sit on my hair for 3 hours. Afterwards I rinsed washed with CON, conditioned with Biolage Ultra Balm. Used the Rusk smoothie and the CHI serum. airdried and flat iron.
My hair is looking fierce! I wish I could take pics! It looks so healthy, thick, black, silky smooth and my ends look like I had a trim! I cant believe how my hair has done a 180. I was almost in tears last night, it was just gorgeous!!!

My piece in the middle has finally caught up with the rest of my hair. Right now I am 1/2-1 inch from bra strap!!

It may be all the vitamins I am taking as well, whatever it is..... I am loving the results!! :) :dance7:

Thanks gang for your support!! I couldnt do it without you and God!

I am so glad to hear that you had good results with this, because I am thinking of purchasing these oils online! YOU GROW GIRL! Your results sound amazing...I'm gonna have to jump on this here bandwagon! :D

So you drenched your hair...I wondered about that b/c I basically just oiled my scalp with it and massaged. I'll try it your way next time.

yes, I drenched it with the pre-poo. Every other day I use very little of the amla on my ends, but I use the Vatika oil everyday on my ends and throughout my hair. I havent actually oiled my scalp with it. I have started to use it on my daughters hair to see how it will help her.

It doesnt weigh my hair down at all.

I wasn't impressed with the Amla oil. Aside from the disgusting smell it dried my hair out. Maybe it's because I used the amla lite, which is just plain mineral oil. Ick. I will keep using the Vatika and see what happens. I would use them more, but even regular Amla contain mineral oil as its first ingredient and having such a smelly head of hair would hurt my career and cause people to stay away from me.

Also, my hair has really pretty auburn highlights from relaxing and I wasnt happy that the Amla darkened my hair :nono:

I think I will stay with some of the other products that have been recommended on this board and stay away from Amla oil. I put hibiscus flowers in my olive oil, that is the one Indian ingredient I will use. It smells wonderful. :yep:

I am happy that these products worked for you though.

Girl, I just poured the stuff in sections over my head. I made sure I applied alot on my ends. It was messy. I may not use as much as I did the next time around! When I took my cap off it was dripping, I had to hurry up and jump in the shower! LOL!

I agree..I really like both oils. I use the amla like Carlie does as a prepoo and the vatika as a regular oil

Goodness. I drenched my hair for a pre-poo just to get rid of the stuff. Man, it stinks. How on earth can that oil stink so badly???!

Glad someone sees the positive in that stuff.

I agree with you. Different strokes for different folks. I want to keep my friends, career and not scare off men, so I am going to be staying away from that stuff, :lachen: ! But power to others who are able to stand the smell.

I'm soooo mad I went to all 3 Indian stores near me and they are all still out...apparently the warehouse has moved or something so shipments are slow.

Sold out??!!! Gosh. Mine is segregated to the waaayyyy back of my sink cabinet as to not "disturb" my other more valued hair products. Are you insinuating that there's a demand for this oil?? Goodness. *sour look*

What exactly ARE the supposed benefits of this stuff? I may move it closer to the "good" hair products if it's seriously that good...What? You know products have to prove themselves worthy to be moved to the front of the sink cabinet...What?

LOL no its that popular....I think this area just has not got shipments in awhile.... Its a love hate thing for most based on the smell.....but it doesn't bother me at all.

Umm, I'm in agreement with you. I think I will stick to my olive and coconut oil. I wish Suergirl or AJD were looking at this thread. They two of my hair idols. Also Adrienne. I will stick to the tips that they have given me, many of which have worked well. To each their own.

100% pure Amla Oil does NOT have a strong smell. Vatika and Dabur mix a bunch of other oils, mineral oil and fragrances in their Amla Oil. You can get the real, pure Amla oil from http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/soap/product.asp?product_id=ayuroilamla or the amla pomade from http://www.qhemetbiologics.com. If that stuff was pure, it would cost wayyyy more that 2.00 because real Amla oil is expensive.

Do you use it too?? Also what do you think about the powdered Amla.....I was considering that in case I did not like the Dabur brand.

I've only used the amla from fnwl and I'm using the qhemet amla pomade now. I loooooooove it. It cut my shedding in half after one month and its made my hair super soft. I use it like a regular pomade and grease my scalp with it a couple of times a week. Since the scent is barely there, you can't smell it once its on your scalp.

That's great MrsLee!!! I'm glad the oils are working for you!!! :yep:

Thanks very much for this tip. I found both of those to be a little expensive and I must say I am a little gun-shy from my initial bad experience with amla. I bought jaswand (hisbiscus flowers) and have put that in olive oil and think that I will stick with that. I bought jaswand from an Indian store and it was much cheaper than FNWL. It smells heavenly .

What happened.....or are you referring to not liking the smell?

I started using Asha's "Roots" oil spray. It is a new formula with Alma and Emu oil. I use it in my scap 3-4 times a week. The smell is pretty strong. I wouldn't say bad but strong.

Congratulations, Mrs. Lee! I checked out your album and your hair is beautiful - thick, long, shiny and silky. I noticed you had a separate album for the 30-day oil challenge. How do Amla & Vatika oils compare to your castor & jojoba? Thanks in advance for your response.

Ximenia ia correct. Pure Amla oil is amla berries and coconut oil ONLY. If it has mineral oil base and other ingredients it is not pure. Just a cheap version.

It nurishes the hair and interacts with it due to the high vitamin c an acidic properties of the amla berries.

Thanks!
I feel the need to apply some type of moisturizer on my ends daily. When using the jojoba and castor mix, after day 3, I need to wash my hair. It feels gummy etc. Since i have been using the Vatika oil, I went 8 days without washing my hair. My hair doesnt feel weighted down, greasy etc.
