Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate - How harsh is this?

Is Ammonium lauryl sulfate better or worse than Sodium laureth sulfate? I just got Aveda Shampure shampoo, and I just realized ALS is one of the ingredients. I'd like to find out how ALS ranks in harshness/gentleness before using it.

Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate is not the only ingredient in shampoos that are harsh. Here is are two helpful sites and one is a with a list you can use to take with you when you search for shampoos.

Out of the sulfates family which are found in shampoos, the Ammonium is the dryest on the hair out of these.
