How do you guys usually prepare your hair for a henna treatment? How long should I wait before applying a relaxer

I henna monthly, but I only relax 3 times a year (every 4months). So 3 times a year I make sure and align my henna treatment a week BEFORE my relaxer. It makes my relaxer a bit orange, and the henna prevents bone straight results. I always get a texlax outcome when I relax after I've applied my henna. But....this is what works for me!

Do you think wholes foods will have it, I don't want to wait for a shipment and I haven't saw any Indian stores around my way

Whole foods has a brand of henna called light mountain henna. They have a few different blends with indigo and other herbs I remember seeing one with a fox on the box, one with an elephant, one with a lion. The price is pretty high and i've never tried it because of that but it's pure henna. Don't get rainbow brand or any other henna hair color. Make sure you read the ingredients and directions before buying anything

I've done different henna mixes over the past few years but the one that works for me the best is:

Straight Henna (mostly)
-BAQ henna like Jamila, or Napur henna. There's another brand I like but I can't find the box (don't remember the name).
-Super hot, but not boiling water.
-Olive oil - 2 tablespoons

Henna Gloss
-Any henna I listed above
-Hot water
-Cheap (Suave, Vo5, etc) conditioner.
-Cocoa butter, melted - about 1/4 cup
-Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons

I make a paste the consistency of cake batter and let it sit for about 6-12 hours in a covered bowl before adding it to freshly washed hair. If I'm doing a henna gloss, I add the conditioner and oil/butter after the henna sat for those 6-12 hours.

I use plastic caps, cotton coil and scarves (scarves so that I can sleep without the plastic disturbing me). The cotton coil is so that it won't leak since I generally sleep with it in. I don't like doing it overnight, but that's the only time I have free to have something on my head for that long, LOL.

I cowash the next day with any cheap conditioner (I have tons of it!) until the water runs clear than I deep condition my hair for at least 1 hours.

Henna, like protein, is truly a two step process that requires a DC.

The color shows up in my hair, but not severely. My hair is dark brown with some slight sun highlights in certain areas. You can see the color mostly in the light.

Henna-ing right now. Using Moroccan henna + indigo from hennasooq. 50:50. I'm trying to get a dark brown result. I mixed 100g henna with hot tap water, let sit for 2h. Mixed up 100g indigo with 2tsp salt in hot water, mixed together and applied to dry unwashed hair. Will let sit for 4h and cowash out. Ill post pics of the finished job. This will be my second henna attempt.

Update: cowashed out wont use salt again made it hard to detangle. It's a lot darker but not quite black. Ill see how it settles out. It's not quite Elvira. I think I'll stick to 100g henna 50g indigo

So if you are using henna for color you just mix henna with just water and let it sit until the next day and apply, because I heard indigo makes it darker and I don't want it darker?
