Hi!!!

I've been using an ACV rinse weekly cause it seems like I lose practically no hair during comb outs. Also, I use a Keracare hair creme daily so the ACV is good to keep product build up off my hair. My concern is I'm noticing my naturally very dark hair seems to be getting a bit lighter.....that's definitely what I don't want (I'm a super dark hair fan). Does anyone else notice their hair getting lighter with the ACV? If so, is there a remedy ?(other than discontinuing the ACV).

Thanks a bunch for any advice!

Hi there! /images/graemlins/wave.gif

Well, if it is indeed the ACV, perhaps you can counteract the lightening effect it is having by steeping herbs in the vinegar that are known for darkening the hair.

I'll have to look for the herbs that do this in my pile of books somewhere over here.....

On the other hand, relaxers do make my hair lighter. I've heard quite a few people say this as well.

Allandra, relaxers have lightened my hair up a lot too. I used to have jet black hair, but not anymore. /images/graemlins/look.gif

My hair has always been dark brown. It's still dark brown, but now it does have some much lighter sections. Oh well. I'm not complaining. It looks kind of good. /images/graemlins/look.gif

Either the relaxer or residue coming out of your hair.

My hair is a very dark brown and I've been using either a diluted ACV solution or the Wiseways Herbal hair rinses (Roots and Raven) for several years after every shampoo. No problems with my hair lightening.

You might want to try the Wiseways Herbal herbal hair rinses which are ACV-based. Check out Wiseways Herbals

Oh man Jade......... /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

What are you doing to me? You know I love stuff like this!!! If I wasn't sitting under this heating cap right now, I'd run to the health food store right now! I just used up the last of my ACV and I can use these until my next batch is ready......

Thanks Jade. I didn't know there was anything that could be done about it. I wasn't looking for my hair to get lighter, but it does look nice. I'm going to check out that Wiseways. Thanks girl! /images/graemlins/wave.gif

Thanks Jade! I think I'll check out the Raven ACV rinse. I have natural hair so it's not a relaxer lightening it so maybe it was just residue(????).

What are ACV rises for? I take it in a vitamin form, but I haven't heard of the rinse.

MY hair got lighter when I used lemon juice one time to clarify (the sun "bleached" my hair that day, then I realized it was for lighter hair...no problems since then using my ACV.

me neither and i ACV every week. it could be from glycerine- do you use scurl or stay sof fro. this lightens the hair.
