Okay, so I want to cut bangs. I figure this is an easy way to make a change without damaging my hair, and without compromising my hair growth. Does anyone else agree? I want to get my bangs cut just straight across.

I like your idea of getting bangs. I just got side bangs myself 
I would think that bangs that are cut straight across may be more irritable to style/blend into protective styles unless you're willing to straighten them regularly...but if they are what you want and you can handle the maintanence, I'd say go for it! If you want a safer bet, I'd say go for side bangs. Hope that helps!
