The best tip I can give you is to watch this video at 1 minute forward to learn how to reinstall the twists at the front of your hair when they start to loosen up.

All I did was be sure to clean my scalp (witch hazel) as well as keeping my own hair moisturized with a braid spray. Mine were on a cornrow base. More photos are here: http://goingnaturaltransitionington...-hairstyle-for-transitioning-to-natural-hair/
Keep a little gel on had too in case you can't redo the front on your own.
