During the spring/summer I am gonna baggy and braid-out. I know how to baggy already but ladies if you could post how you do your braid-outs. If possible too, could you post 2 pictures. (1) hair braided (2) braids out.

Thank you, I would really appreciate it. Love you ladies

The pic in my avatar is my best braidout pic. I have a couple others in my fotki though that are more close up. I'm natural though, I don't remember if you said you were relaxed or not, so my results might be aliittle different.
I usually do lbetween 4 and 6 braids and wet myhands when braiding, sleep in them undo, and fluff.

Here are mine,

I don't have pictures of the braids before I loosened them, but I just made about 20 regular plaits on wet hair and let them dry over night.

Here's a closer pic of another braid out but it really shows the tight texture. I think I made about 25 or 30 braids for this one:

Beautiful, ladies! I might have to break down and try a braidout again this weekend...I'll be sure to keep a hat around in case it takes a turn for the worst...LOL.

For those of you who do them on dry hair, do you use any product?

Ok ladies I always wanted to know....is it better to do cornrows or do individual loose braid....Help me out here!

I just do individual braids. I can't cornrow to save my life. But I think cornrows would probably give the hair more volume when they were loosened.

Thank you, LynnieB and bLackButtaFly!:)

Great thread. I need all the help I can get with braid-outs and the pics are a great visual inspiration for me. My braid-outs never come out quite right. Always undefined waves and fluff, and I don't know how to maintain them so if you all could include how you maintain them that would be great!

Camellia and LynnieB you guys braid-outs are georgeous!!

Same here, I did mine with wet hair and a lot of people liked it!

Your braid out is lovely!:)

I've always done it on wet hair, when I braid my hair dry the tight curls won't stay once it's unbraided.

I try to do braidouts with just single braids but I always run out of hair before I finish the braid..then there's just a long straight strand. Also the top is always straight.

I'll keep trying...I missing wearing my hair down.

No, I don't use any product when braiding my hair on dry hair. After unbraiding, I do add a little Aveda serum for shine and Aveda Anti-Humectant (if necessary).

The moisture in my hair after airdrying really helps. In fact, on freshly washed and airdried hair, even after just 30 minutes of having 4 braids in my hair, I can have a very nice braidout. :yep:

WOW! Those braid-outs were just beautiful. Its like, when I see pics of your braid-outs, its like OMG!! My hair will look like that....then it hits me that i'll find a way to jack it up and it comes out all retarted. But I say keep the pics coming...hopefully this weekend i can do a braid-out, if not a silk-wrap. I still haven't got that down. I need silicone mix

I usually do my braidouts while wet because it holds better. I'm going to try to do it dry next time though. It sounds like a neat idea. Pics from my fotki...

I often do braid-outs on my micro braids. After a wash, I put damp micros into two cornrows/French braids:

I wear that do for a day or so, or wait till my hair is dry and then undo the cornrows to get:

I once wore an unplanned braid-out after wearing my pressed hair in plaits for the night (similar to these but not these) and then forgetting to carry a comb with me in the morning. I had planned to undo and style my hair away from home coz I didn't have time to do it at home. And just my luck not to realize I didn't have a comb until I'd finished undoing the plaits with my fingers. :look:
I didn't even try to finger comb. :lachen:

These are ooooooooooold pics. (two years ago.)They're not a "braid-out" per se but more "knot-out" hehe.

Hope this helps.

Absolutely GAWGEOUS!!! I hafta try this on my micro-braids. I love, love, LURVE  the depth of each wave!

Alright, I'm going to try this today...I've been sitting here for about 5 hours with Aveda DRC con and treatment on my head. My hair is not thick or long and I don't really know how to braid but I'm going to give it a try, anyway.

I plan to take pics.
