Can hair grow at the hairline after bladness...

My girlfriend lost her hair in the front area to the point that it is smooth from wearing a weave. She said she tried everything and rubbed all kinds of homemade potions and nothing worked. She finally went to a dermetologist and he told her the fair follicles are dead and they will never grow. The only way for it to possibly grow back is to pay for a 3K hair transplant where they take hair from the back area and put it in her front hairline.....
I'm a little skeptical because that is a lot of money to spend on hair when there is no real guarantee that her follicles will revive. Are there any suggestions I could give her or is there anyone who experienced baldness from braids or weaves and grew their hair back...

Did he do a biopsy on the hairline? If they are dead then they really are dead. I think when they do transplants they also move the follicles too. Has she gotten a 2nd opinion?

Yes, he did do the hair biopsy. She did not get a second option because he is suppose to be one of the best. I guess her hair follices are dead. She planning to save up the 3K.

I'm praying for a miracle on my hairline and I'll include your friend. I have baby hairs that are taking all the time in the world to gain reasonable length. Nevertheless, it is disheartening.
Ask her to go for a second opinion. There is always hope as long as there's life. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!

My friend is using Rogaine because she has hereditary thinning in the front and sides of her head. The hair has grown in nicely and she is aware that once she stops using it - the hair will fall out. Her attitude it that it's a part of her routine, an everyday thing like wearing deodorant everyday, bathing everyday etc. And she said that it is money well spent. Maybe try temple balm and hair fertilizers, glovers and things like that. I hope you get the help you need.

If the areas are smooth and shiny, then the follicles are dead. Having the surgery is a permanent solution as long as she understands that if she goes back to her old hair care practice that she can re-murder the follicles.
