I have been pulling my hair back in a ponytail with an elastic holder and putting a fake bun on over it. Will the elastic holder break my hair off, or am I okay as long as I don't pull it too tight? PLease help, I am growing my hair out and making good progress, but want to be sure I am not damaging it. My own pony tail is waaay to short to put on display, so that is why I am putting a fake bun over it.

Use a scrunchie for your ponytail. I think there is a post in archives that has a link to a site on how to make your own scrunchie. If I was at home I would have posted the site with the instructions.

Thanks, I'm going to do that, I had a feeling the elastic band was too harsh!

are there any other options other then the scrunchie?

See the post called safe pony tails. It was started about a month ago, basically the other option is some type of stocking. I tie a knee high around the pony tail hair and the hair doesn't pull at all because stockings are designed to stretch.
