Hello ladies,

Just wanted to get a roll call for future references and meetings
We may want to share information.

For example, good deals on products
Where you shop for certain products
Any sales in local areas
Hard to find products
Are we sharing like we could?
How is the weather affecting or not affecting your hair?
Canadian tips or secrets?
So drop a line so we can be connected through this Post:wave:

Hi ladies,

Not looking for anything right now, just wanted a thread for future

I've been able to find a lot of things discussed here locally, so if you need something specific just post and someone will help you.

I'm in Montreal but thinking of moving to Toronto in May.
I've found dominican products here in Montreal and many dominican hairdressers.
this is my first winter in Canada so I have no tips for winter haircare, I just pincurl my hair and put my silk scarf inside my woollen hats
nice thread

I'm from Toronto too! Anyone know where I can find Dominican products around here? Also, does anyone know where I can find Jamaican Castor oil?

Montreal girl here!!!
I can't say much but I'll say this:
products: -extra virgin coconut oil from GNC stores
-Other oils: any natural products store.
-go to wal-mart . enough said.
relaxed hair: dominicans are the truth... but I DIE each and everytime they blow dry my hair. I don't think it is normal to burn your scalp that much. I found a haitian salon that did an excellent job on my hair... the salon does not exist anymore...it teaches you to do your own stuff...
- Jamaican oil: family brought it from the south for me.
Winter: I have braids on but now that it seems like Colorado got our winter (I feel for you guys though. It hit pretty hard out there), I'll take them off and wrap my head. Silky hats sound really cool, but my budget tells me I'll put it in a pony, wear a silky scarf around it, baggy the ends and phony pony my way through the 'winter'.

Montreal ladies, which Dominican products are available to you guys? It seems we might have to set up a Toronto-Montreal exchange here .

I'm in Canada...I'm in Manitoba...no other prairie girls?
I get most of my stuff online.

I am Canadian....:)

Good deals can't say..but I buy my products @

Walmart & Shoppers Drug Mart
*NTM
*Suave
*Hello Hydration

Dominican products on line @ sickbay

Everything else at a regular BSS.

I just put a weave in so i am good for winter....

I have not been able to find Jamaican Castor Oil in Toronto.
A few venders have mentioned that it's difficult to import to Canada.
My sister brought some back from Jamaican in the summer.
I do use a very good substitute
called "West Indian Pride", there are two kinds, one is "dark castor oil" because it's organic and less refined.

Can be located at:
Jas East West Indian415 The Westway #6ATel 416-244-9713
they also have a Brampton location .

Would you let me know if you locate Dominican products in the GTA

Thanks :)

Hi!

I'm very familiar with Montreal...There are 2 places where I always go shop there... Beaute des Antilles and Nakisha... They both have a bit of hair products. Nakisha is more a wig shop/exstension shop...unless they changed... I haven't been there in ages. The same with Beaute des antilles. I beleive that the owner opened quite a couple of beaute des antilles store. He probably also have castor oil.

I buy dominican products at Estofa a latin market/resto/salsa club :D ,it's on st hubert 4 blocks from jean-talon. I also met a dominican hairdresser and she has alter ego products and said that if I bring a container she can sell me some. I went to Cuba in October and brought my mom miss keys 10 in 1 and lafier rinse. at my hairdresser's i've seen silicon mix, nacidit, aceite de romero and "baba de caracol"conditioner , they said it's really good but it disgusts me to put something out of a snail on my hair.:look:
my other hair products i bought online but with the taxes the price is prohibitive, so I go to Estofa from time to time, I'm sure there are more latin markets around that area

Definitely! I recently purchased some dominican products from sickbay.biz and the prices and shipping aren't too bad. I can't wait to find a store so I don't have to order online though.

Hi there, I'm of Cuban decent as well.
My father " God rest his sole" was Cuban. I have never been there, was born in Jamaica. I trust and pray to stop there on my cruise I plan to take in 2008.

I was wondering if you could recommend a few good Dominican or Latin products.
Thanks in advance.;)

hi, hair i am, I hope you can go to cuba, you will like it there.
I'm in love with silicon mix, I have the conditioner and the leave in, I also bought from Anky Nacidit avocado rinse, it made detangling in the shower a dream, i bought praital slikworm conditioner and La bomba
toronto ladies, are there many dominican salons in toronto?I am moving to toronto in May, I can't wait to get out of Montreal, probably will live in Mississauga, I would like to know if there are latin stores, markets, etc
thanks

Another Toronto Girl! I buy most of my products at Wal-Mart or the BSS. I haven't changed my routine at all for the winter, still frequently washing/rinsing/cowashing and wearing a puff.
