Chi vs. Fhi flat iron - (cheapest models)

I'm looking to invest in one of these. Which would you recommend? My hairstylist uses a Chi and nothing has ever made my hair so smooth, light and straight. I won't be buying the Platform or any $400 model , I don't flat iron enough (really ever) to justify that. But I would like the option to straighten my hair w/o having to go to the salon. So what are your recs?

I know Sally's and Walmart both have knock-off versions of the Chi iron that claim to work just as well. I get paid next week so I am planning to get one of them then. I'm really hoping they work just as well. It's time that I got a new flat iron.

I would say CHI. I used the original one and my hair was so bouncy and shiny. I loved it

i have the 1" FHI and i love it. i also have the knock off chi from sallys and thats good too but i havent used it in months cause i love my fhi.

Wow, it seems evenly split! I wish I could try the FHI first. I've heard good things about it. I love the way my hair comes out with the Chi. Decisions, decisions,,,erplexed

I have both. At one time I didn't like the Chi I felt like it didn't get hot enough so I gave it to my cousins....I didn't like the Chi because I was not using it correctly....The FHI gets really hot but it is thicker and doesn't get to the roots as well as the Chi which is slimmer.The Chi also leaves more shine. Now I use small sections and straighten my hair with the Chi then Pin curl it to create curls.

I knew exactly what fotki you were talking about it before I clicked. That blinging hair is just amazing. That's a good commercial for a Chi.

I have the generic chi from Sally's that I bought for $60 and I have a FHI Platform that I bought off Ebay for $100. Both work very well for my 4b hair (relaxed, but not bone strait). I prefer my FHI Platfrom, I feel it makes my hair very straight and silky. I think it also depend on what heat protector and other product you use on you hair, though. I've tried biosilk, and that works alright. I am going to get the Chi Silk Infusion, and see how that works too. I REALY want the FHI Hot Sauce, though.

I love her flat ironing tutorial......one of the best that I've seen I think i would go for the Chi b/c of the shine and b/c it can get the roots.
