Color Guru's Please Help!!!

Hi Ladies,

So my hair looks pretty much like it does in my avatar, except I went a little crazy a couple weeks ago and added a few "highlights", except they turned into small orange chuncks of non-cuteness. Luckily I just did them in my bangs. I did a semi-permanent red rinse, which looked fine, but the color's washed out (I wash frequently), so I'm thinking I should do a more permanent fix.

The options I think I have are
1) Get it fixed at a salon (I have a VERY limited budget, so I'd prefer not)
2) Dye it all dk brow (my natural color and end my experimental color days)
3) Try to tone or fix these highlights-which is where you come in

Any suggestions???

More info? what did you use to colour and did your hair react badly to it [ie breakage, thinning, etc]- for example my hair HATES ammonia but i can get away with pretty much anything else [including peroxide], Did you use any porosity control? Any protein treatment? to be safe loreal have a line Casting which is very gentle on your hair (i think it's a semi perm no ammonia and i'm pretty sure no peroxide) so i'd say get a shade that is close to what you wanted but slightly darker (make sure its a cool tone- ie without red undertones) and it should tone down the red. Hopefully someone else will come in to help

I used bleach (just straight up white powder, with a low developer (I think 10 or 20). My hair definitely didn't like it! Thinned but it hasn't broken off, I rarely use heat and I've done a protein treatment since. I've used natural instincts in the past with good results. I tried feria, and it took a TOLL on my hair-never again! So based on that I think my hair is similar to yours (okay with peroxide, x-nay on bleach and ammonia).

you used hydrogen peroxide with the powder bleaches? A bit late to say now but you should never use feria on previously bleached hair it (feria) also has a bleaching effect, i would say use some porosity control (maybe Roux) and do a protein treatment. Try a cool colour you will have to use a permanent to change colours back cause anything else will just sit on the hair and wash out after 3-4 washes you can use the Excellence line a dark brown will get the bright orangey colour out and still leave your hair feeling good- you just have to baby it - ie more protein treatments over the next few weeks.

ETA: yeah i did the bleach feria thing a few years back too
